Hi all Now this isnt my area of collecting, but these two patches have recently made it into casa-de-Jewitt. I assume that they are silver bullion, and appear to be of very high quality. They came with a quantity of WWI pieces, so I took it that they are of theat same period. Does any one have any information to share? Dan

Thanks for the info guys! And a pearl handele revolvers would certainly look great in my collection, so if there are any laying around anywhere, unwanted...... -
Hi Paul No can do im afraid - the photos were all i had from the seller (bar one of the case), and it is no longer on offer as he sold it for almost double its asking price yesterday! Someone obviously knows a little bit more than me about the odd bird! I am a little miffed as it was on hold for me, but what can you do? As far as the eagle goes my feelings were also that it was Polish in origins, modified to carry the swastika charm. Dan

I agree that that they are both good - however the above statement doesnt ring true every time. More and more common items are being faked everyday now, and you just need to take a trip on ebay to see how many fakes of really commin items there are. I have been stung too many times now to take even the most general or common medal, badge or bar at face value - it always pays to take a second look of ask for advice Dan

My old man has just got his hands on a lovely Victorian Silver medal hanger and buckle to adorn a French Crimea medal which is being re-ribboned. Now at some time of its life the hanger and buckle have been badly gilded with gold. This is tarnished and worn in places, and would look much beter in just the silver finish. So, to this end, other than taking them to a jeweller to have it buffed off, how can he remove the gilding? (The reason he doesnt want to have it buffed off is that the hanger and buckle both have a lovely floral design, and he doesnt want to loose any of the detail.) All the best Dan
