    1. Thats true. I realy love those amazing sharp details. Is it an early Showa piece? Or is there no way to tell
    2. Thank you Larry, I realy love those amazing details like the feathers or the ornaments on the sword. Good to know it is a Showa piece
    3. Thank you very much. Its the first one for my collection. Im very happy now. Its always a little like poker for me as i dont know how to tell the age of japanese medals Here a picture after the first cleaning
    4. Yesterday i also got this nice Sacred Treasure - i cleaned the medal (without destroying the Patina) - it looked like someone puked on it The ribbon were cleand and looked fadet. It has 4 rivets. And as its the first one i ever has in my hands - it looks very nice (after cleaning) How can you tell from which period this came from? Stefan
    5. Hello all, got my fist Golden Kite. I traded it for an modern Legion of Merit - After a look i would say its a Showa Period one (?) - what do you think? The details a realy fantastic - never tought i got a Golden Kite. Stefan
    6. Hello all, Here a general assault badge in his 1957 apperance. It has a short needle and is worn. Can you date those 57er badges or is this impossible? What about the short needle - on google i just found long needles on this badge. Sorry for the bad pictures - just had my phone right now. If you want i can post better pics in a few hours when im home. The needle looks brown on those pictures - but its just worn off Greetings Stefan
    7. Yes thats what i thank about to army bands. Here some more minis - minus the GWOT Service Medal and you have the minis i shown It would be nice to see your mini Medal Bar - dont be shy
    8. I have a couple pre gwot army band pictures - the officers there have two and three pace mini medal bars to - even in the same constalition as the one i shown here. No they are not per se authentic but in my opinion more authentic then simple slide on mini medal bars. For such simple mini medal bars - for which i never payed more than 5€ - its way to much work to assemble those cheap medals like this, saw them together and then saw felt on the back. Not sayinga faker wouldnt do that... but on this bar... it seems very unlikly.
    9. Maybe someone addet the air lift device later. Compared to the two mini medals it looks nearly brand new. The Vietnam bar was a enlistet bar. If you want i call him to send me a pic so we can See the complete bar. Its funny that we cant keep the bar complete - every one of us will keep his row This were also the first bar we ever found.
    10. Not every US Officer had a chest full of medals. The Airlift bar - ok plausible. Maybe just the top bar. The bronze star bar - its a vietnam era bar. A friend of me has the 2nd rowrow. The other 3 placer are legit and missing nothing. As you can see they are taylor made ones. I add some pictures.
    11. Yes to bad. But its a nice looking piece. My dad also worked in the VEB Harzer Werke. He told me just a hand full of them were given as retirement award. He just know one other but with an other more modern type of radiator mounted.
    12. This is an Award my Grandpa gets as retirement Award. He was a Radiatoren-Fräser (Radiator Cutter) in the VEB Harzer-Werke. Its the only one i ever saw. He pre war he was a Polsterer und Dekorateur (Upholsterer and decorator) - during the war he was a high decorated Feldwebel - in 1950 he come home from his captivity in russia. He startet a new life with his wife. He didnt like the GDR - after the fall of the Wall he putt all hisstuff away. I remember as kid i loved this Radiator - it always stand in his cabinet. It was the only piece the GDR he kept visible. He always talked about his time during the war. How he won his Close Combat Clasp in Silver and his iron crosses. So when i look as this piece... i can nearly feel that he were still alive... good childhood memories. My Grandma forbid him always to told me his war storys... man i realy mis him... sorry for went a little off topic... Stefan

    16. Thanks Gordon, i now that many throw the dokuments away or keep them stored. Im Born in East Germany and after the reuniting those awards and doks dont have any value to the owners. Even my grandparents throw those things away. i saved those badges out of the trash can. My grandpa was a high decoratet Feldwebel and fight from 1940 till 1945 an was POW in Russia till 1950 . So i can say he doesnt like the system after the Reich. I also have i cast iron award which was given to him from the VEB Harzer Werke - its a real unique pice. Never saw a second one.- if you want i can show it here in the forum.
