Interesting 👍. This chap needs to remember that he’s in a disciplined organisation, and he’ll do as he’s bl**dy well told!! 30 years wearing a Queen’s crown badge or not, when the time comes he WILL start wearing the new badge. Don’t know where he thinks he is. Will await physically evidence with regards to soldered cap badges as well… However I did groan, when I saw this photograph. Why she was allowed to be in the King’s presence, improperly dressed is beyond me.

This could potentially be him, if that helps? As Dave says the City of London museum is worth contacting. I have always found them most helpful in the past. Point of note is that not all period officer papers exist. But you never know you might get lucky with them. Certainly worth a try!! Keep us posted 👍👍👍.

Although no police officers stationed at Chingford police station came to any harm during the Second World War, an officer from Walthamstow, having taken time off from duty ar- rived home only to be cut down by shrapnel as he stood on his doorstep in Tufton Road, fumbling 'for the front door lock. The station itself was saved from major damage in spite of a number of near misses and an incident where a V2 rocket landed in Pole Hill, only 100 yards from the station. When, at 5pm on Wednesday March 7th 1945, a Nazi V2 rocket weapon fell close to the Petty Sessions building the court was just finishing its daily business. Although it was wrecked, no-one was hurt. http://www.brynelliott.co.uk/index_htm_files/ChingfordPoliceStation1888-1998.pdf Bombs dropped in WW2 on Chingford http://bombsight.org/#14/51.6242/-0.0105

King Charles LSGC’s….

Thought this might be of interest… https://news.oxfordshire.gov.uk/heroic- ... -honoured/ Oxfordshire’s Lord Lieutenant, Mrs Marjorie Glasgow BEM, attended the prestigious event to present ‘Her Majesty, The Queen’s Long Service and Good Conduct’ medals to eleven firefighters, each for 20 years’ service. The Queen’s medal title has been retained this year, even though King Charles III is the new monarch – this is due to the individuals achieving their 20 years’ service in the reign of Queen Elizabeth II and in line with the royal warrant. -

MOD FOI request, confirmed that as of the 3rd April 2023 - Medal (ER II Effigy) Stock Held Long Service & Good Conduct Medal 39 for the MOD Police. Long Service & Good Conduct Medal 57 for the Defence Fire & Rescue Service. https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/ ... O.pdf.html Of particular note is this - To answer your third question, I can confirm that no information is held determining a policy for when those qualifying personnel will attract award of the 'old' or 'new' style of medal. To answer your fourth question, I can confirm that no information is held on the timeline for procurement or issue of new LSGC medals at present. To answer your fifth question, I can confirm that no Information is held as no designs have been approved by His Majesty as yet. As the Royal Mint have not been excepting orders for new medals for pushing 6 months now. It appears that not only do we have no formal answer as to when C111R medals will be released, but no concrete confirmation as to when or if E11R examples ceased to be. Which has sort of left us in a void. Certainly something that further generations of medal collectors will ponder 🤔 😂…

News just in… Doesn’t appear that there are substantial “stocks” of military LSGC’s. Can only assume that the same is true for the emergency services. However, the following might be of further interest? It certainly is a very interesting subject! I assume the same situation, played out with regards the allocation of silver jubilee medals? One thing that does seem unusual, is the fact that with 2 weeks to go, the powers that be would have us believe that no medal or indeed ribbon has been confirmed, surely something like this would have been created/decided upon years ago?? Also why there is such uncertainty as to the criteria, again it’s not like they didn’t know this event would happen at some point?
