    1. Can anyone offer me any pearls of wisdom with regards this whistle? Is 1943 is the year it was produced/issued or a batch number, perhaps? Does the crows root, mean it’s a military issue one as apposed to a police issue?
    2. Chief Constable Simon Chesterman OBE QPM Civil Nuclear Constabulary. 30 year and 40 year police long service bars.
    3. Saw this one as well. Likewise would very much like to learn the story. Assume it must have been something serious but not so serious as to merit dismissal? Found this - The plaintiff be ex-Inspector Ruff, of the Y police, and the defendant the Chief Commissioner of Police. For some dereliction of duty the plaintiff was last ... Published: Thursday 23 May 1895 Newspaper: Islington Gazette County: London, England
    4. Found this photograph of Walter Young, which provides confirmation of his previous military service (Royal Marines) and potential entitlement to the WW2 medals in his group.
    5. Commissioner Anthony Raymond Lauer, APM New South Wales Police https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tony_Lauer
    6. Cracking double LSGC group, with both E11R & C111R effigies. Constable Emma Chapman Essex Police.
    7. Have been in correspondence with the recipient of this medal. She qualified in 2009 (22 years service required prior to 2020), she’d also been a DC for several years when she qualified. As can be seen her medal is engraved Cwnst, which suggests that DTF Gwnst wasn’t used at that time? If so then this reduces the issue window for DTF Gwnst on the E11R effigy version down to only 14 years?

    9. Came across this unusual example. Not seen one engraved like this before, with only the initials. Has anyone else seen one named in this style before?
    10. Ditectif Gwnstabl (Detective Constable), example awarded to an Officer from North Wales Police. Welsh engraved E11R effigy are unique to NWP. They began being issued in 2006 and cease in 2023, with the change over to the C111R effigy.
    11. Some more information which has come to light when referring to the use of Welsh ranks. In particular the rank Cwnstabl (Constable) when used in connection with Ditectif (Detective) it becomes Gwnstabl. The word changes depending on where it appears in a sentence and what context it is being used in, therefore Gwnstabl replaces Cwnstabl when used in conjunction with Ditetcif (Detective. Conversely it should in point of fact be Gwnstabl Ditectif but that is taking it a little to far grammatically, when engraving medals perhaps. Where as the same is not true when using Prif Arolygydd or Chief Inspector, the Prif or Chief/Main remains the same way around and not Arolygydd Prif as you would think. All very confusing, but I thought it might be of assistance to someone in the future when one of these medals comes onto the market.
    12. I believe South Wales Police, have now embraced the concept of offering their officers the choice of whether they would like their medals engraved with their rank in Welsh. Would be interested to learn whether Gwent and Dyfed Powys have yet begun to do so? As it stands now any E11R versions, with the rank in Welsh, are unique to North Wales Police. But am yet to see any examples come onto the market.
    13. A curious situation appears to be unfolding with regards to the change over of effigy and the issuing of Police LSGC’s. Initially it was suggested on the government website that the 1st October 2023, was to be the change over date. But the wording of that document is very ambiguous. I have been unable to obtain anything formal, that confirms that date. However I haven’t found any examples of recipients from before the 1st October 2023, being awarded a King’s version. But I have seen examples of medals qualified for after that date, that received Queen’s version. But at the same time examples of medals qualified for prior to those who received a Queen’s one being awarded a King’s one?
    14. Joined Oct 2003. Gloucestershire Constabulary, Received June 2024.
    15. Issued to a female officer from Dyfed Powys Police yesterday (06.06.24), having qualified 12 months ago. Interestingly she wasn’t given the option of whether she would like her rank engraved in Welsh or not. So it appears North Wales Police are the only force to be awarding Welsh engraved medals. Certainly any E11R versions seen, will be unique to NWP.
