    1. It appears the Royal Mint had already struck 2023 silver Britannia’s prior to September…. https://www.royalmint.com/invest/bullion/bullion-coins/silver-coins/britannia-2023-1-oz-silver-bullion-coin/ I also hear that the Perth Mint will not be changing over to C111R anytime soon?
    2. A month on, and as far as I’m aware there have been no further announcements re medals. Although the Royal Mint, have begun striking new 50p pieces which it appears, will be in circulation next month. So assume it won’t be too much longer now on the medals front……….
    3. Constable Vanda Bairstow. Unknown which force she served with but a Vanda Kathleen Bairstow died late last year in Essex.
    4. Anyone heard anything further re this potential new medal?
    5. Am aware of a couple of forces, that have now changed their badges to C111R and a King’s crown. But as yet there has been no further, developments re medals, which I find strange. Surely plans must have been in place, for what was eventually to be an inevitable situation? Two months on, and no news. Not even with regards to miniature medals.
    6. Thought this might be of interest. Over the last few days, I have contacted all the main stream, miniature medal suppliers. None of them were able to provide any release dates, for C111R miniature medals. I fully appreciate that this is an unprecedented situation. But I would have thought after near 2 months, there would have been some sort of announcement. Surely plans must have been in place for what can only be an inevitable situation….
    7. I understand that this is a prototype, yet to be formally authorised. So I guess Gloucestershire are the first?
    8. ACSM, yes had forgotten about that one! Coronation Medal, I guess is a given. Couldn’t agree more with regards to any subsequent campaign medals, but I fear it is just a matter of time, before the necessity for additional medal(s) comes to pass….
    9. Would be interested to learn what current campaign medals, we’re likely to see with the King Charle’s effigy on? GSM 2008, clasps Northern Africa and Eastern Africa. OSM clasp Iraq & Syria. Any others?
    10. Will be interesting to see if all new LSGC’s will now look the same? I assume that they will all have the same uncrowned effigy now? I would be interested to hear other peoples opinions! Has anyone got any “pukka gen” information?
    11. King Charles 50p coins struck for the first time….. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-63413134.amp
    12. Found this group to Ch Insp Paul Chipolina, Royal Gibraltar Police. (Note the 2012 effigy on the LSGC).
    13. Recently discovered that back in 2012, a new effigy was released on the Colonial LSGC, https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colonia ... vice_Medal “The medal is circular, silver and 36 mm (1.4 in) in diameter. The obverse depicts the effigy of the reigning sovereign surrounded by the royal titles. To date, there have been six types of obverse, the date in brackets showing the year the design was introduced” Would be interested to see one, in anyone is able to provide if photograph?
    14. Saw this, thought it might be of interest? https://www.telegraph.co.uk/royal-family/2022/10/07/vale-carolus-latin-name-king-charles-dropped-new-coins/
    15. I wonder when we can expect to see miniature medals, being the King’s effigy?
    16. Yes I would imagine the QPM will now become the KPM. Although I don’t believe it is issued for gallantry anymore, I believe the QGM or indeed KGM is used in that instance.
    17. 17 years on, can we shine any new light on this medal? Has anyone come across other example since?
    18. I wonder whether the medal will bear the effigy of the Queen Consort as well? Assuming the ribbon will be red, white and blue, will be interesting to see what variation they come up with?
    19. Not physically seen one yet, but did see this update, with regards to the two bars, on the Kent Constabulary website https://www.kent.police.uk/foi-ai/kent- ... ol-l11020/ 3.3 Long Service and Good Conduct 3.3.1 This section of the protocol details the eligibility criteria for long service awards for officers and staff. 3.3.1.1 Police Officers 3.3.1.1.1 The police long service and good conduct medal is awarded to police officers, of all ranks, when they have completed 20 years’ “pensionable” or “approved” service. 3.3.1.1.1.1 There is additional recognition for 30 years and 40 years service.
    20. Will be interesting to see if the Coronation Medal effigy is uncrowned.
    21. Something I’ve been pondering is will the new LSGC effigy, for C111R be crowned or uncrowned? I’ve been informed that as of the 8th September the Royal Mint changed from E11R to C111R. The first E11R LSGC’s were issued crowned, with no transitional period despite the fact the Queen wasn’t coronated until 15 months later? Could we potentially see two versions of the C111R LSGC, or will they just remain uncrowned now like the RAF and RN LSGC’s? Or will they go straight for crowned like the first E11R?
    22. Another point that I’ve been pondering will there be a subsequent additional effigy on these medals, once C111R has been formally crowned? Could it be that there may well in fact be C111R LSGC’s out there already, to officers who qualified for it on the 9th September, for instance?
    23. The “as and when” required theory, certainly seems to be the case! Interesting that so few were issued to the Port of Dover police. The intakes in NWP vary in size, mine must have been 20+ perhaps, back in October 2002, interestingly the intake before us was in August (not sure how many were in that intake), but they will have all qualified for the E11R version. My intake with be the first NWP one to have the C111R version, wonder if there’s a date certificate that accompanies it?
