    1. Gordon, thanks for the input on the Pfortzheim makers. That was very informative.I am also inclined to think it is a Mayer badge.I would sure like to know what the basemetal is,though. Regards,Martin.
    2. This badge was recently posted at WAF. It sure looks like a Mayer to me or maybe another of the Pfortzheim makers. From the reverse hardware one would think that it was a tombak piece. From the colour of the basemetal the badge appears to be a zincer? Could it be an "early" Mayer zinc badge with tombak hardware? Regards,Martin.
    3. Nothing wrong with that badge Stewy.A very nice period Souval that retains a lot of finish,as Gordon mentioned. Regards,Martin.
    4. Superb Gordon,a great looking set.If you were looking for the best, this is it. Hard to upgrade a set in this condition. The case is in excellent condition. Regards,Martin.
    5. A nice worn original clasp. What i would consider "the icing on the cake" from this nice grouping. Regards,Martin.
    6. Paul, nice Meybauer badge and a great looking group of what appears to be worn, but original items. Great stuff. Maybe you coul post some pic's of the clasp also. Regards,Martin.
    7. Superb looking clasp Gordon, nice find and probably scarce with that flat-wire catch. Regards,Martin.
    8. I purchase my albums and pages from a company called "Safe Collector's Supplies". They have nice albums and good sturdy archival pages, all sizes. http://www.safepub.com Regards,Martin.
    9. Hi Erik, this is new information for me and very interesting too.I am sure that John is absolutely correct in his statement. Still,a great photo. Regards,Martin.
    10. Hi Erik, this is information that i did not know and i am sure that John is absolutely correct in his statement. Still a great photo. Regards,Martin.
    11. Hi Erik I am not a tally collector, but i do appreciate them.It is one of the areas of KM collecting that i could get into very easily. The photo,is superb though.Too bad he is not wearing a Schnellboot badge. Regards,Martin.
    12. I went to a small West Coast show over the weekend and i was surpised to find this.A very nice looking Foerster & Barth Fleet badge that surprisingly retains most of it's original finish. The price was right,so i picked it up.I figured i might trade it later for some Hilfskreuze badge but i kind of like it,so it looks like a keeper. Too bad it was not marked L/21. Regards,Martin.
    13. Rousp, thanks for posting the photo's of the badge. An original badge,i think with signs of corrosion.Overall, not that great a condition. Regards,Martin.
    14. John, at this point i cannot match this particular badge to any other CA i have on file. So,i guess to me it is "maker unknown" right now. Regards,Martin.
    15. HI rousp, if you could post photo's,that would be great.I would like to see the badge. Regards,Martin.
    16. Gordon, i am also now of the opinion that the silver finish was applied during manufactutre. As one would expect the finish has held up well in the recessed areas of the badge. The finish is very similar to that applied on this Schwerin zincer. Regards,Martin.
    17. A more detailed look at the ship. The remaining traces of the silver finish are more evident here. There are traces of guilding on the edges of the sail but i think this is just spillover from the application of the reverse guilding? Regards,Martin.
    18. I recently added this F & B zincer to my collection. When i first saw it i figured it was nice personalised piece with the guilding being removed from the ship,so i thought. After closer inspection there appears to be traces of silver finishing on the ship and an obvious wear pattern exposing the basemetal underneath. So,instead of a badge that i thought was personalised,it appears i might have an unusual variant by Foerster & Barth? There is also an FO variant with the silver ship. Regards,Martin.
    19. Hi Gordon, here is another Foerster & Barth badge from Mark's collection. The eagle has the same applied handwork it seems. Regards,Martin.
