I also think it must have been some kind of Colonial order... @Hendrik: Do you have a picture of the Cambodian National Merit Order, showing the color of the ribbon? ciao, Claudio

Thanks Hendrik, for your correction. I am not sure about the Cambodian National Merit Order... the blue ribbon in Sainz' ribbon bar looks totally different from this order (look : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Order_of_Cambodia ). I corrected the list like that: ?

I am not sure ? Croix du Combattant (1930) ? M?daille d?Outre-Mer / M?daille coloniale (1893-1962), Extr?me Orient ? Dear forumites, I would like to show a nice group of ribbon bars and medals belonged to g?n?ral m?dicin Xavier Sainz (1902-1986). I'd really appreciate any additional information about g?n. Sainz military career! Thank you very much for your attention... Ciao, Claudio

Dear forumites, I'd like to show you something that it's new to me and, strangely enough, not Imperial German. Still the quality of the Jewellers made Northern Europe Orders are quite stunning, to say the least. Here is a description of the orders and medals in the medal bar of the Componist and military music conductor, Ille Gustafsson: ? Sweden, Gustav V:s minnesmedalj ? Sweden, Sv?rdsorden, knight grade cross ? Sweden, Vasaorder, knight grade cross ? Sweden, Sveriges Orkesterf?reningars Riksf?rbund, Reverse with name inscription and date 26.3.1938 ? Sweden, F?rtj?nsttecken i guld f?r Ryttarolympiaden Stockholm ? Sweden, Civilf?rsvarsf?rbundet medalj i silver ? Danemark, Dannebrogen Order, knight grade cross ? Norway, Saint Olaf's Order, knight grade cross, GOLD ? Iceland, Order of the falcon, knight grade cross ? United Kingdom, Royal Victorian Order, MVO (member), no. on the reverse 720 More about Ille Gustafsson (only in Swedish): http://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ille_Gustafsson http://www.militarmusiksamfundet.com/show_....asp?id=sveadef Ciao, Claudio

Sweden Swedish Order of the Sword. What period?
Claudio replied to Veteran's topic in Northern European & Baltic States
It took me more than 2 years to read this thread, but I just wanted to congratulate Christophe for the very nice ribbon bar with the very "exotic" Swedish Swords Order ribbon with crown and swords device! Ciao, Claudio -
Hi Rick, Yes, I think you are right... he was a regular officer... I don't know why I came up with it. Mmmmhh... interesting that you noticed that the father might have been a General. The auction house was selling also other stuff from the same family like RAO and KO of Wilhelm's father who actually was a General... you have quite a talented "nose" to find sich interesting details... I think that the DA XXIV, like you very rightly deduced, was just thrown in my group, maybe by mistake, but I think it belonged to his father. Furthermore I got also the Wound Badge in black... @ Doc: yes, the two medals at the end are Bavarian... like in the German description says... Bayern.
