    1. Dear forumites: After a little break I am glad to introduce to you my brother's all lippische (Schaumburg) medal bar... It's quite rare to get a medal bar with all medal of a such small German states. On top of that it's a rarer non-combattant bars. I noticed that lately the prices have been increased also for those medals that earlier weren't considered so hot and desirable. ? Kreuz f?r treue Dienste am Nichtk?mpferband (OEK 1256/1) ? Hausorden, goldene Verdienstkreuz, 1917-18 (OEK 1219) ? Hausorden, silberne Verdienstkreuz, 1869-1918 (OEK 1219) ? Erinnerungsmedaille an die Silberne Hochzeit, 1907 (OEK 1242) Enjoy! Ciao, Claudio
    2. Very, very nice collection Heiko... beautiful, desirable and some rare combinations! Congrats... Ciao, Claudio
    3. Hi Christian, I thought the same as Rick concerning the Saxon War Effort Cross... strange, but definately a very nice small group of ribbons. Nice found! Ciao, Claudio
    4. Hi Rick, I couldn't even dream that you might have come up with names with a NCO medal bar... that's quite cool!
    5. Very interesting observations, Pete! Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Rick, you know that I have a been gone insane for German medal bars with Finnish awards. On Winkler website https://www.nordheideversand.de/ (22136 AUSWEISE, PAPIERE und gro?e ORDENSSPANGE des OLYMPIATEILNEHMERS (WINTERSPIELE) Oberleutnant der Gebirgsj?ger Hans Roschmann) there is a complete group of an officer of the Gebirsgj?ger with the most strange medal bar I have ever seen... WWII medals, Olympia Ehrenzeichen and a post-WWII American medal!!! I guess that this medal bar was just put together recently... nevertheless I'm posting the picture... the Finnish awards they look pretty good. Ciao, Claudio P.S.: I know... it's not WWI, but I guessed here I would get more attention...
    6. Hi Rick, From where do you have this information? That's quite interesting!!! ciao, Claudio
    7. Dear forumites: I would like to show you a bar adquired by my brother Marco this year. I requested some images from him... and here they are! Quite colourfull ribbons. What's interesting, it's the combination Bavaria-Reuss (Silberne Verdienstmedaille mit Schwertern)... and of course the 3 ribbon bars which go with it! Ciao, Claudio
    8. Yes, Ulstermann, you got it right. It was unofficial medal for Bavarian monarchy's loyaists, awarded in the twenties. Ciao, Claudio
    9. Joe, The bar went for a quite steep price... over the double of its starting price. Bavarian medal and ribbon are very desirable in Germany. Ciao, Claudio
    10. Hi Sal, Hi Rick, Is it his brother's medal bar? Ciao, Claudio
    11. Hi Paul, It would be interesting to see how quick and how many CD will Detlev sell on his website... Keep us posted! It's intesting to see how many collectors are really concerned with studying History and what it's behind the medals: real people, soldiers... Ciao, Claudio
    12. Hi Christophe, That is an incredible group... how many years ago had Clauss' group on sale on his catalogue? It must have been not so long ago... strange I missed it! I always follow HH catalogues... Wonderful set! Did you get something from this group? Ciao, Claudio
    13. For tonight the last interesting pictures... of an Indian Police officer and of camels in Aden! Hansen has been around... good for him!
    14. The top picture: isn't it from the caption the famous city (harbor) of Port Arthur... in a couple of years these places will see some action in the Nippo-Russian war of 1905!
    15. As you can see Hansen used to "sign" his postcards on the back with his name and address... Rick, could you check his address??
    16. Again, lots of pictures of countryside and locals, usually depicted too small to be viewed properly...
    17. Where the heck is "Swatow", "Swaton" or whatever? [attachmentid=10545] Transcribed by RR: "Soochow Creek I" and "Swatow Thal m. Kak...io v SW." These pencil ones are a bit light for me on first passes. Swatow is indeed the place name. And "Soochow Creek" is a place known to all 1930s United States Marine collectors!
    18. other two nice pictures... always when there're people on it, there's no description! Arggghhhh!!!
    19. For your reference I put also the dates on these pictures... quite impressive... these are more than 100 years old.
    20. I think that, more than today, for people on the turn from 19th to 20th century, to be able to travel so far and see such different people and places must have been quite an adventure. We can't even imagine nowadays, since we have all the instruments to travel rapidly (planes, cars, trains,...), to be informed (TV, Internet, radio,...) and to communicate in English almost everywhere... I am currently living in India and can't even imagine how uncomfortable could have been back then for an European to live in such hot and humid country with no comforts at all...
    21. Chinese countryside... strange shaped rocks, pagodes,.... [attachmentid=10539] transcribed by RR: "Felsbildungen am Abfang das Mt. 'Beaty' in der N?he von Swatow. Prov. Kuangtung." and "Lung-wa Kanal mit Pagoda Oberhalb Schanghai."
    22. Other two pictures: the first showing a Chinese "worker" in Schanghai and the second showing Tschinkjang's Harbor on the Jangtse-Kiang. This spelling is copied from the German titles... I think these places might have different spelled names nowadays. [attachmentid=10538] Transcription by RR: "Arbeiter von der Werft in Schanhai (dasselbe von 325) Sud-Chinese Phot. Dr. Hansen." and "Hafen von Tschingkiang am Jantse-Kiang. Blick Flussabw?rts. Im Hintergrund die "Silbereifel" u. SMS Seeadler." Yangtze River mouyth, apparently
