Dear forumites, I'd like to present to newly adquired ribbon bar. The first one, it is named (thanks Christian), the second still unnamed. Feldspange des Oberst Hensel. 1.) Preussen: Eisernes Kreuz, 1914, 2. Klasse; 2.) Deutsches Reich: Kriegsverdienstkreuz, 2. Klasse mit Schwertern; 3.) Medaille Winterschlacht im Osten; 4.) Preussen: Kronenorden, 4. Klasse mit Schwertern; 5.) Deutsches Reich: Ehrenkreuz für Frontkämpfer; 6.) Preussen: Dienstauszeichnungskreuz für Offi ziere; 7.) Roter Adler Orden, 4. Klasse; 8.) Zentenarmedaille (1897); 9.)Thailand: Der sehr hohe Orden des Weißen Elefanten; graue Rückseitenabdeckung. 1904 war Oberst Hensel im Feldart. Rgt. General-Feldmarschall Graf Waldersee (Schleswigsches) Nr. 9. Im darauffolgenden Jahr war er in der II. (Proviant) Kolonnen-Abteilung der Schutztruppe für Südwestafrika wo er sich auszeichnete und die Tapferkeit im folgenden Jahr durch den Ranglisteneintrag des Kronenordens 4. Klasse ersichtlich wurde. Er wurde dann zur Dienstleistung beim Gouverneurs in das Bezirkskommando Windhuk versetzt, wo er blieb bis er im 1. Weltkrieg durch die britischen Besatzer interniert wurde. Als Oberstleutnant a.D. nach dem Weltkrieg gab es für ihn eine Reaktivierung im 2. Weltkrieg, indem er zum Oberst und Kommandeur eines russischen Kriegsgefangenenlagers gemacht worden ist. May somebody has more information about Oberst Hensel's details in WW2. Thanks in advance for your interest.

Dear forumites! Could you identify the maker of this iron cross 2nd class 1914? It has a very fainted mark on the ring, which almost looks like a C that could be a G... Maybe a Godet piece? Thanks in advance for your kind assistance and advice! ciao, Claudio

Interesting thread... my bro got another ribbon bar from the same recipient, but at that time the German dealer (Kalies) didn't sell the documents.

I still remember the medal bars that I missed because I didn't have enough money or I was "too conservative" to bid higher (prices in Deutsche Mark), like no. 1375... I don't know why these medal bars were offered together. I should ask HH, but I think that they won't very likely know. Maybe it came as a lot to be sold for a client who had these bars simply in his collection or maybe could be that they came from the same family, but I think this is a bit less probable... two tuxedo bars for civilian being put together at the same time by the same company (Godet) for 2 persons of the same family? 7 placed medal with the rarely seen Italian commemorative medal for the Messina 1908 earthquake... there were quite few German Kriegsmarine naval units involved in the rescue actions after this terrible human tragedy ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1908_Messina_earthquake ). It must have been some sort of reserve officer who ended WWI with a rank of Hauptmann/Kapitänleutnant or even Major. Nice also the nice additions of 2 further "foreign" awards, the Austrian-Hungarian MVK 3rd class and the Liakat Medal (Ottoman Empire). I don't think it will be so easy finding this officer but maybe not impossible? Here I am adding my description of the medals: • Preußen, Eisernes Kreuz 1914, 2.
