    2. A photo of an unknown Turkish infantry captain from the year 1922 the 3rd officer in the serie: http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic.php?t=105327
    3. 1-This photo was shot in 22/?/12 2-The young officer is a leutenant of navy 3- The gallipoli star began to be given in 1915-16. 7 years before the a/m date. This young officer ought to be at the age of 14 or 15. Therefore the young officer ought to be the successor of the medal. In the wake of the establishment of the republic in 1923 the decoration of all Ottoman medals was relinquished. After the republic only medal of Independance was permitted to carry by the officers.
    4. The unknown young Turkish naval officer is a gradutant of the year 1922. We learn this from the date 22/?/12. As all new officers he posed also with his dagger. He bears 1st and 2nd class IK and a Turkish War medal and Gallipoli star. He is young for such medals. Those medals must be from his late father. He wears those medals because his father is dead. The second neval officer is another person. he is also unkown. I give you under a photo of my late father who graduated from Turkish War School the Harbiye in 1924. http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/tt/62cad/#TL
    5. I am not sure but with ottoman script the buckle must be before 1928. A buckle of granddress of officers. I add 3 photos of importand Turkish pashas with a buckle which has similarities. Enver Pasha
    6. If there were 20 000 Turks in 1917 we would to the honour of British.
    7. Trieste was the main naval port . Austrians lost Trieste after WW1. It is still an unsolved problem within Italy and formar Jogoslavia.

Cemal Durusoy 1914 2nd image: Lt. Ali Riza Bey War pilot of gallipoliOn 20th November 1915 Lt. Ali Riza and 2nd Lt. Ibrahim Orhan (flying an Albatros C1) shot down a French plane over Kabatepe during the battles of Gallipoli. This is the first time in history that a plane is shot down by another plane. Let me give you some information about Ibrahim Orhan Bey. Galatasaray is familiar to all with the football club rather than the Lycee/Highschool in Istanbul. Galatasaray Football Team won the European Championship 3 years ago. On the other hand during the WW1 many students or graduants of the Lyceum didn't hesitate to join the army as reserve officers. Many of them killed in various fronts. Ibrahim Orhan Bey graduated in 1912. He was the grandchild of Sadullah Pasha and son of Dr. Sadik Bey. He volunterede to Turkish Air Force and became a war pilot. During the flights over Gelibolu he was wounded 2 times. In 1916 his plane crusted to sea near the island Semadirek. He is the first Turkish airman who killed in action. May Allah keep him in his paradise. Allah rahmet eylesin! Dilerim ki oyle olsun! Please note that there is no history without Turks.
    9. Col. Selahattin Gunay, Turkish Army (Istanbul 1890- Istanbul 1956) He graduated the War School the Harbiye in Istanbul in 1912 as a infantry officer. He later joined to the Gendarmerie Forces and served as an Gendarm Officer during the WW1 and War of Independance until his retirement in July 14th 1948. During the WW1 between the years August 1916-April 1917 2nd Lt. Selahattin was responsible for the security of Dara, Aclun, Basr-i Eski Scham (Old Damascus) One day while he was looking out of his window of his office in Dara he saw a suspicious man in Arab clothes. He immediately called this sargeant to arrest him. He cross-examined him. The man told untrue stories and lied. He ordered him to take his shoes. The mans foot was tidy neet and clean like a gentlemen. The Arabs of the region never had shooes. Their foot were all full of scars of wound. 2nd Lt. Selahattin send him under arrest to the main Imperial Officials Quartier. source:Memories of Selahattin Gunay "Bizi Kimlere Birakip Gidiyorsun Turk?" p.129 ( Why you are leaving us alone behind Turk?) http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic.php...elahattin+gunay

    11. more Maj.Gen. Nihat Anilmis a hero of WW1 and War of Independance in 1932 A colonel M.D. of the year 1933 wearing all his decorations.
    12. Gents, The good looking Holywood-Turkish Gentlemen is a cavalry major. But there is something wrong with that photo: 1- Hair sytle 2- mustasche 3-uniform : He is wearing uniform of WW1. 4- The way of decorations correct. Between 1900- 1950 the uniforms changed many times. I like to give you some examples for your better understanding. 1- WW1 2nd Lt. Selahattin Gunay who arrested Lawrence 2- 2 Lts from the Army of Mustaf Kemal in 1920 3- My late father Major General Ahmet Hulki Saral as under Lt. on the left in 1924
    13. There must be something wrong with that Urkunde. 1- It has a siegel "Military mission konstantinopel" and signed by v.Sanders as "General der Kavallarie" The siegel is German Mission's siegel . As chef of german mission to Turkey V.Sanders rank was general of Cavalry. This document must be one of empty prints filled later by someone. 2- V.Sanders on the other hand on Oct. 30th 1918 was Commander of Army Group Yildirim in Syria. As the armistrace signed he handed his duty to Mustafa Kemal Pasha (Ataturk). 3- here is a IK document signed by him on July 8 1918 as "Oberbefehlshaber Keiserlich-Osmanischer marschall"
    14. Dear Tony, Please visit my Gallipoli page: http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/tt/674f5/#TL http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/7d696/1c1cb1/ If you enter the Strait of Dardanelles from Aegean Sea you will see on the right the Hills of Canakkale and on the left the Gallipoli Peninsula. On the Hills of Canakkale you will notice a warning in capital letters colored with white chalk " Halt Traveller!" This warns all people who desires to enter the Dardanelles without permission. In March 18th 1915 British and French tried to enter the dardanelles without permission and paid their desire with blood and heavy losses. After that bloody fight a Turkish poet called Necmettin Halil Onan wrote the following poem. The poem is translated into English by Tanwir Wasti. published by the March 18th University Magazine 2003 To a Traveller Stop wayfarer ! Unbeknownst to you this ground You come and tread on, is where an epoch lies; Bend down and lend your ear, for this silent mound Is the place where the heart of a nation sighs To the left of this deserted shadeless lane The Anatolian slope now observe you well; For liberty and honor, it is, in pain, Where wounded Mehmet (x) laid down his and fell This very mound, when violently shhok the land, When the last bit of earth passed from hand to hand, And when Mehmet drowned the enemy in flood, Is the spot where he added his own pure blood. Think, the consecrated blood and flesh and bone That make up this mould, is where a whole nation, After a harsh and pitiless war, alone, Tasted the joyje of freedom with elation. (x) Mehmet is the commen name given to Turkish Soldier. [color=#000000]Here is the words of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk adressedin 1934 to those who lost their lives in Gallipoli "Those heroes that shed their blood and lost their lives... You are now living in the soil of a friendly country, therefore rest in peace. There is no difference between the Johnnies and the Mehmets to us where they lie side by side here in this country of ours... You, the mothers who sent their sons from far away countries wipe your tears, your sons are now living in our bosom and are in peace. After having lost their lives on this land they have become our sons as well." Visit Gallipoli pages: http://www.virtualtourist.com/travel/Middl...-Gallipoli.html
    15. Thank you Kevin. I found this forum late. But I will do my best with the brothers. I am not an expert but a good observer. According to me The medal is not Turkish. 1- The imperial signature or as in Turkish "Tugra" is wrong. Ottoman Turkish Sultans did'nt have such a bad signature. A good examble for your information is on the War Madal/Gallipoli star. 2- The badge on the top of the fez of the person shows that the medal is not Egyptian. Egypt was at those years a Turkish mandate. It must be Persian or Afgan. The model of the fez is not Turkish. Can be Persian, Afgan.
    16. Dear Cris if you write me your e-mail adress I can post you Tosun Saral saraltosun@yahoo.co.uk
    17. Dear Terry, Hosch Bulduk! I find also dear to meet you. Here is a Turkish auction page www.gittigidiyor.com for all kinds of war medals. May be you can find your medal. http://images.google.com.tr/imgres?imgurl=...6lr%3D%26sa%3DN
    18. Dear Gordon your Turkish medal has a date on it in Arabic numbers 1333 which is equal to 1917. (thats all I can read in old Turkish script.) We call this medal "Harb Madalyasi" the War Medal Originally this medal is awarded those heros of Gallipoli 1915. The medal is carried on the right brust just under the brust pocket. I add some photos of Turkish officers with that medal. http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic.php...asc&start=0 You can ask my friend Altay Atli for your questions: http://images.google.com.tr/imgres?imgurl=...6lr%3D%26sa%3DN In a/m page Altay gave an image of Altay made a mistake for 1333 he said 1915. I will talk with him.
    19. Major General Osman Nuri Koptagel (Erzincan 1874- Ankara Nov.22 1942) Army serial Number: P/Inftr.1311(1895)-b-17 Maj.Gen.: 1922 Retired: May 8 1934 Class mate of Field Marchall Mustafa Fevzi ?akmak. Story of family name Koptagel: Kop-ta-gel means hurry and rush. While he was a teacher at War school the Harbiye he always commanded the cadets "Kop ta Gel !" Ataturk was also one of his cadets. This saying became his nick name. According to the new civil law of Turkish Republic he longed for a family name from President Atat?rk. Atat?rk said him that "My teacher you have already a family name Koptagel" His licence of iron cross signed by Liman von Sanders
    20. In another forum I listed Turkish WW1 officers with iron cross. I add here for your information. http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic.php?t=105327
