I would say its a good one, I do not know what the writing at the bottom says but the badge at the top is the ex service mans badge. Hope this helps. James :)

Hi Alex Very nice first aid bag and contents, I would love to see some better photos as I collect Japanese Medical items. The writing on the bag should say a number = (looks like this) then a letter which would mean No 2 bag and the three letters underneath would say first aid. Hi All, I have this in my collection, I think it was brought back to the UK at the end of WW2, but it relates to WW1. Its black and has a side view of a man with the inscription Adolf Furst then Zu Schaumburg Lippe, then on the reverse a naked man on horse back with 1917 and some words. Rare 12th Army Badge as worn in Burma and Malaya towards the end of the war.

An original 5th Indian Division cloth badge Red ball on black background, an original 23rd Indian Division cloth badge red cockeral, an original 17th Indian Division cltoh badge black cat on yellow background and original 25th Indian Division cloth badge black spade on green background. All from the Far East, Burma and Malaya in WW2.

I have to say I do like Japanese "Meatball" flags, the one shown here was brought back from burma in 1945. It was picked up from the battle field at Kohima by member of the 4th Bat Royal West Kents that fought a whole Japanese division for 14 days. It was found in the crown of a helmet. I have another flag from the same place and same man which has a tiger on it, i will get that photographed and posted, its the best one I have ever seen. thanks

Hi, My Grandfather (on my mothers side) was awarded the Bronze Star Medal. I have a copy of the citation which reads: Lt Col john Reffelle Spencer, (Regimental No. 113260), British Army is awarded the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service from 1 March 1944 to 8 May 1945. Lt. Colonel Spencer rendered conspicuous service to the United States by assisting U.S. agencies in the coordination of overseas shipments of petroleum supplies from the U.K. to the U.S Forces in Northern Europe participating in the war with Germany. His devotion to duty and sympathetic dealings with the problems arising in connection with this work contributed materially to the successful supply of petroleum products to the Allied Forces in Northern Europe. How do I find out any more information about the award and possible a copy of his certificate. no one in my family has this and the above came from the Public records office in Kew London. Hi, I agree that you need to see the helmet first, some times you pick an item up and you just know its right. The stamp in the picture is the size mark. If you can look at it check out the liner, it should have a ink stamp on the inside canvas pocket. You do see these repainted during the war, different theater different shades, but check to see if any holes have been filled in, these were issued after the war with US liners in. This is a Japanese Wound tag, its made of cardboard with detachable sides and a metal ring for the cord. You do see fakes of these made of very thin paper, non detachable sides and a basic hole punch at the top. Hope this is of interest. I do also have a full translation of it if anyone is interested. I have a japanese WW1 Victory medal (original) in my collection, my initial intention was to get one for each country, but seeing how hard it was to find the rare ones (as mentioned previously) I gave up, I do still have the Japanese one but my hobbie has shifted to Japanese WW2 Far East Burma and Malaya and Japanese Medical items. So I am looking to sell or Trade to a good home. I do have my Great Grandfather WW1 Victory Medal which is a nice family item. Cheers James

The big boxes would have held glass viles of Sterilized liquid, they are both marked "Army Medical Material" 1944 and 1945. The small ones have there glass viles and are for Vit B and Iodine. I am still looking for a true definition of a japanese medical kit, from what I have seen and researched they are a mix of "Army Medical Material" with the Star at the top and civilian manufacture, this may just be because of shortages late in the war. I have not seen any Technical Manuals that cover this area in any detail, unlike German medical items which is well covered. Anyway I hope you like the photo and I will post some more later. [attachmentid=59873] As requested, shown is my Japanese Medical Pannier, this was brought back from Singapour in 1946 by an Sgt who used it as his suit case. Unfortunatly he repainted the outside so covering the Red Cross Markings and the Japanese Words (any one know how to see through paint? CSI people?) but the inside is complete. The next picture is of the 3 syringe cases I have and the one complete syringe. I will dig out the other bits in my collecting this week and post them on. I would love to see any bits that anyone else has out there. Cheers James

Hi Chris, I don't know if it helps but I have some Japanese postcards picked up from the battlefield in Burma in 1945 by my Grandfather, I have had them translated and with this information and with the help of some Japanese friends in the Burma Campaigh Society been told that the solider who wrote the postcards is listed on the missing presumed dead scroll of his regiement (214 infantry Regiment "white tigers"). Unfortunatly no other information was availalbe. I also have a dog tag from the 222 IR, who were destroyed to a man on Biak Island 1944. Regards James

Hi Everyone, This is my first posting but I just wanted to say hello to all fellow collectors, especially those who collect Japanese items. I collect items to do with the Far East, so Burma and Malaya in WW2, and also Japanese Medical items. Would love to hear from anyone who has Japanese Medical items as I am trying to build up a data base of pictures and info as its not very well documented. My Grandfather was 5th Indian Division RA in Burma and Malaya, went into Singapour in 1945 with the division. Cheers James
