    1. Dan - I have two field hats one is a 59 the other a 54. I don't believe I have any General's hats, I think these are just field grade officer parade hats. But I could be wrong, my area of interest is East German, not Soviet. Kevin
    2. Darrell, It should contain all of the medals issued up to about 94. It does not contain the UNMIH medal I was awarded in 95. Kevin
    3. UN Medals poster that I brought back from my service in Haiti in 95. Found it while digging around for Soviet posters tonight -
    4. It's a book on Soviet medals, decorations and orders, but all of the photos are black and white.
    5. A few books, I have a couple more boxes of soviet books and magazines burried in the garage somewhere -
    6. Ta Da.. .If I knew how much they were worth I'd have taken better care of it. Still looking for the BOAR copy with English text.
    7. I'll look for them this week. Unfortunately they are burried under all of my daughter's stuff we moved from her room (my office/den) to the garage. Kevin
    8. I have something simular to this packed away in my garage somewhere along with a few copies of the English translated version distributed by the British Army of the Rhein. As I recall the original Soviet poster is a two piece deal. If anyone is interested I'll try to dig one out and photograph it. I picked up a lot of Soviet books and several posters when I was stationed in Berlin and Hanau in the late 80s and early 90s. Kevin
    9. I hear you, mine departs on Thur and Fri her room becomes my "den/office" Wife says if I move the TV and computer in there I'll never have a reason to come out except to eat and sleep. Kevin
    10. I recently received a lot of East German shoulder boards which included what I believe to be several sets Bundesgrenzschutz (BGS) boards from different periods. They vary in size, attachment method and color (from green to hunter green to black). Some appear to have a plastic inner core. Can anyone here verify that they are all BGS boards or if some of them are possibly early East German or late TR? Kevin
    11. Darrell - Great stuff all! The Civilian Air Medal I've only seen once before, in a case in the conference room of The Institute of Heraldry. Kevin
    12. The patch represents the Zentrale Milit?rische Dienststellen der Bundeswehr (ZMil). The branch color is Infanterie/Infantry. Rank is Hauptman/Captain and the uniform is probably from the early 60s. Kevin
    13. The thing that surprised me when I became a Gov't civilian a few years back is that even though these are less frequently awarded than military awards for service and achievement, they are not held in high regard by most Gov't civilians, at least were I work. Even thought someone might get just one or two of these awards in a career, time off or monetary incentive awards are what folks really appreciate. Kevin
