Hello Gents, I have been digging thru all my bits and pieces and came up with some pics from when i spent ten years doing up an old 1941 American made 741B Army Indian motorcycle. The pics run in order of progress...not to many pics to bore you with tho...he hee Started in 1991 with a box of bits...say 40% of the bike! had a few spares i was able to trade off for the bits i needed, so that was good. had other bikes to ride when doing it up ....so it was not neccessary to hurry with it... Had it on the road, ( read rideable thats all)to suss out a few things with it...before i took it apart and made the improvements and added more original bits...( replaced the honda twin leader front brake wheel!) and chromed more bits and so on.... Hope you guys enjoy the pics Sorry but i did not do it up as a Military bike again...i went for the Black and Chrome look.... i'll leave it for you to agree or not... Regards Paul

Thanks Gents, I am now a little wiser on the practice's of the Wurttembergers with these particular medals. As Christian and Stogieman points out, it seems to be widely accepted that the recipients must 'cash' in on the Gold ones and have a gilt one made for the appearances sake on their bars. I guess this is the only logical explanation for this happening. Thanks for all your comments! both to Claudio and WildCard too! Its all knowledge gained. Regards Paul

Hello Gents, This gem has arrived in the post! It has the Wurttemberg Golden Bravery medal This medal could be real gold, but it looks to me, to be the gold wash that happened to them later in the war. It also has the 'k Swenkler' mark under the bust. Apart from getting a jeweller to test and ascertain the metal used in this medal is there any other way to test and find out? It has this cool makers tag on the reverse and the HK is from C.E.Junker and it is a pretty rough cut unit... Pics are here! Enjoy! Regards Paul

Thanks Stogie! I have one of these too. Now which way is the medal supposed to be facing? as per regulations? and the two examples you have posted...they both look to be made of different metals.. is this common? or is it another case of 'as the war progressed...the metal was needed for more important things like guns etc...therefore the quality of the metal was compromised)

Valid point Mr Research! indeed. I too have an EKII that is mounted 'backwards' on a Wurttemberg Trio... I am going to leave it as it is...as the medal has been sewn onto the ribbon bar by the owner.. so as RR says...sometimes the owners were quirky in their own way... so as custodians of their medalbars....we must honour their ways...no matter how un-regulation they were... Good on you Bob..too! for deciding to leave it as it was.... Nuff said Regards from NZ Paul
