I am sure it could be an interesting topic.Really I do not have many Slovak awards from this period in my collection, but many of them have gone through my fingers, and they will go through too. There are not many collectors of the awards of this period. There are many reasons. If somebody is interested why I will explain.First I will show some I have got the snaps I left.Later I will have to do some more pictures.Have a good fun having a look at them. 1.The Bagde Pilot -Cosmonaut of the Slovak Republic. The badge was created because of opportunity of the flight of the first Slovak cosmonaut Ivan Bella in 2000.Obverse-the spaceship around the globe,in the middle with the territory of the Slovak Republic.Around the bagde is written-The Pilot-Cosmonaut of the Slovak Republic.Material is silver, marked at the reverse.Screwback.In nice etue, with the certificate inside.50 badges were awarded,e.g.n. 1-Ivan Bella,n.2-reserve cosmonaut -Fuljer,,n.3-the President of the country...etc.The slovak language took the using of russian word, not american one-astronaut.so the Cosmonaut, not Astronaut. Certificate-material-silver diameter 45mm weight 34 gr authors-Ivan & Igor Chyla Made in Mint Kremnica I have got the badge with number 28 in my collection.I had 3 of them ,but they had been sold.

A very interestning award came into being 25.6.1937 when Czechoslovakia began feeling the danger from Nazi Germany. The necessity to strenthen the defence of republik allowed to establish the new unions:National Guards,Shooters Union...and their awards. These awrds are collected by a certain group of collectors.I want to show the 4th grade of Order of Merit of Shooters Union.Order existed in 4 grades, the 1 st grade- a neck decoration, the 2nd-gold,the 3rd-silver,the 4th-bronze.All grades are rare.To see the certificate is nearly impossible. That is why I am showing it. The diameter of the badge is 3cm.

Colombia-Order of Democracy
nickstrenk replied to nickstrenk's topic in Rest of the World: Militaria & History
Mrs.Robertson,I am not sure but I expect 2 different orders. When we ask Wikipedia we have picture of orders with a portrait of Simon Bolivar and next one with a building.Maybe I am wrong, maybe I am right. https://www.google.sk/search?q=Orden+de+la+Democracia+Simón+Bolívar&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b-ab&gfe_rd=cr&ei=61DuWKvWKrKE8QfyvL74Bg ...or there were 2 versions of Order of Democracy.first it was called the Order of Democracy and after some time it changed into Order of Democracy of Simon Bolivar. E.g. in Czechoslovakia were 3 versions of Order of Republic. They have a different design...,also In Romania,USSR were versions of many orders,...etc. -
Medaile Jana Žižky z Trocnova Ribbon: Red with black edge stripes. Instituted: 21 October 1918 Awarded: For brave or meritorious acts during WW1.Only 23 were awarded.I do not know why the name of General M.R.štefánik is absent among them in all lists. They say-22 awarded persons. Weight with the ribbon of the 3rd grade-32,2gr.Width of the ribbon 2,9cm.Dimension of the medal 3,5cm.The medal is 100% original, taken from the family of the awarded person. The bad thing is,the medail is without a certificate. In the past times there was no fashion to collect awards with certificates. In the past times there was no period and reason to prove originality.Material?I did not cut my medal to find out from material the medal is made from.I read somewhere-it is copper layed with some silver.
