Hi both thanks for having a look and as always I do appreciate your help... Bayern - I do like your suggestion for the FF’s. Makes sense. Ive got one of those old imperial German fireman helmets so I might tuck these away with that. Christian - thanks for the date/period for these. They looked similar to more modern ones I have on a couple of caps from army surplus pickings. thanks again cheers tony

Hi gents i know what the one of them is now... Does anyone have any thoughts on any of the others please? should I perhaps in fact be thinking of them as pre 1918? (ie try asking on other forum...)? Cheers tony

Hi Alex i hope my reply prompts those wizards who know the finer signs to put you out of your misery (or not...) with a definitive answer... First though, regardless, i think it looks great. It looks better than the example you picture. If it’s original then you’ve got a beauty and a bargain, if not original then still a beauty. To me, the fittings look undisturbed on yours and with the plate flush and tight... and the inside is lovely, the colours and condition is great looking. fingers crossed for you best wishes tony

could the middle one be a 48 -98 jubilee medal ? or would he also have had others ie long service type decorations? just curious.... tony -
Hi Alex Ive really enjoyed your thoughts and they were by no means ‘too long’. So thank you for your reply.... i feel the same about copies as you I believe. Each to their own I say. These are (hopefully) the first copies I’ve bought, certainly the first by choice! I just wanted them. I have to admit the ‘extra’ markings on the EK1 got my hopes up for a while but I hadn’t noticed them prior to purchase so they didn’t influence my decision. thanks again best wishes tony ps your pics look great. I think I might clean mine up... t

Buenos días Bayern..... Brilliant ! how do you know all this?? Are you 126years old?? You realise that if I ever lived next door to you - you’d never get rid of me!! Anyway.... As it’s about medals.... Assuming the first medal is a ‘1908 jubilee’ and the other two are on a blue or red ribbon and I think the third is a ‘signum laudis’.....what would you guess for them? And as it’s a tall hat which means earlier( i think )would you say the date for the pic is likely to be pre-war ? cheers tony -

Hi Gents my excuse is alcohol and an accidental bid of 2551.00 instead of 25.51.... by the time I found out I could cancel the bid I had convinced myself It was worth a punt and then bought it anyway! (And it’s mate) all advice I found and info I saw said ‘don’t’ but I still did! just posted pics.... tony t -
Hi gents i wonder if you like either of these? i have bought these with no expectations they look like every copy/fake I see! (Munchen 9 = bad!) I was just hoping the star is an older copy than some! Looks like 3 part construction but I guess modern copies would be too.? im now hoping the EK1 is also more interesting than a modern copy but I wasn’t expecting it to be... The EK1 is though faintly marked/stamped ?35 (835?) above the maker mark. Looks like 2 part construction. And has the ghost of a rectangular stamp to the top rear. However both are non magnetic crosses (bad? -,keep hearing about magnetic cores) but the screws are magnetic - also the ‘star’ surround is slightly magnetic but really only a bit.... a fellow gent tells me the EK1 back disc is Russian or Slav so not original... Both came together from a good old collection and I was expecting them to be ‘space fillers’.... All thoughts welcome please Gents.... tony Edit : more pics

Hi Jim I can see it better with an eye glass but this picture may be a little clearer- phone cam blurs when too close to it. thanks loads Jim i now see it as technika..... Do you think that would still be a possible Russia/Slovic word? i’ll get looking on google.... cheers tony
