    1. Hi Gents This first one, I think is addressed to someone in hospital in Bosnia Posted in Budapest 24th November 1915 This picture looks to be in the mountains, sadly no information... And this one posted home.... tony
    2. Hi Cochrane, ive just seen your post. You’re most welcome to add to this thread. Show us your picture if you want.... Go for it.... Best wishes tony
    3. Hi Gents i couldn’t resist this the other day. This is a German produced card, it’s not the best colourisation job ever, but a catching image I thought. It describes him as wearing the latest protection against gas attack and wetness in the trenches And of course I always enjoy a dog too.... Hope you like Gents tony
    4. Hi Gents Two posted ‘home’ —-//- IR84 November 1916 —-//- IR29(?) February 1918 tony
    5. Hi gents dated July 1916 ——- September 1916 and marked Riga tony Cheers GreyC a difficult postcard for family to receive I bet. thanks as always tony

    8. Hi Gents Not AH I know but I wanted to add this because the previous pictures are so good! tony
    9. Hi Gents i thought these were worth their own post. i bought the 3 together based on the fronts alone, obviously I wanted this group shot the most... Notice the markings on the caps. Marked on the print as ‘XVIII - 1 M K’ these are the other two: i didn’t expect them to be related as the men with the horse are wearing German uniforms and the injured wearing no uniform.... However... happily and to my surprise the ‘horse card’ is feldpost and the stamp on the back matches/identifies the group in the first picture..... So, does anyone fancy a guess before I post the ‘stamp’ ? Nothing special about it, and no prize, just for fun.... tony
    10. Hi gents if I ever make it to the Vienna Archives for my Grandfathers records, if you agree, you will all be ‘called up’ again! To Ian, tifes & Bayern.... Re: these records, in particular, the awards/medals, may I ask about your knowledge a little please.... i guessed #4 and 3 as bronze because of his lower rank at the time of issue and #6 I guessed at silver because of the S and the 935. I doubt I will ever try and read a Hungarian document such as this again! but I am curious and wonder are you Gents familiar and could recognise these records at a glance or do you look these things up perhaps? It is all new to me. It took me hours to put my post together! I joined this forum just over a year ago and you all amaze me time and again with your superpowers! tony
    11. Well saved! It’s great when you have the name, let alone his face to accompany your goodies! tony
    12. Hi Kasas, Gents Some great paperwork! i think you have been lucky with the handwriting- it could have been a lot worse! —-//———-// If I may start the ball rolling...... To me, the record appears to have been rewritten in 1921 which is why some dates are listed in reverse. Entries post 1921 are listed forward. 1 : Awards 2 : Assigment / posting 3 : Reassignment 4 : Other details / other notes also Rendelet: decree/statute idoponja : time allomany : file/staff This section above shows the dates he was promoted. Hadnagy : Lieutenant Szazados : Captain Ornagy : Major Al Ezredes : Colonel 10 awards. #4 awarded first then 3,2 and 1. then later #5 - 10 My guess below. I repeat guess! 1. ?? 2. Karl Frontline Cross 3. Bronze Bravery (1st class or repeat award) 4. Bronze Bravery (2nd class) 5. ?? 6. Silver (Bravery?) 1st class 7. Hungarian campaign medal 8. Austrian campaign medal 9. Bulgarian(?) campaign medal 10. German campaign medal. (Hindenburg Kreuz : HK) —-/-////———- Thats all I’ve got Gents!! tony
    13. Certainly the same template... I read a description of one similar that called it a ‘regimental card’ ie regimental issue..... tony

    16. Hi Brian Thank you for another fine entry. i for one did not know the need to remove my poppy at 11am on the 11th. I have also previously wondered why people in the public eye, ie tv presenters, were so quick to remove them. Now I know..... Thanks again tony

    18. Hi Gents i didnt realises that there are arrows on this card until today so thought I’d share it while it’s out.... In the foreground are train tracks No platform but buildings alongside, some with men on the rooftops Also it looks like a fire or two? maybe to keep warm over In the one above could it perhaps say 3bayR above the men? and perhaps kbirg? (Or even 4komp) on the right I hope you like it Gents tony
