Hi Gents My Belgian collection.... 'A Ses Heros' Medallion regarding Vivegnis. 1914 - 1918. (one of my favourites..) Named to N. Ernoux. Below: I think this is a later award relating to reconstruction efforts... and a few badges....(modern I guessing) Below: I seem to recall this is Belgian but nothing else... Hope you Gents like them.... tony

Hi Chris What a beauty. can you just let me know what age it is please? Does the 'avenger of 1870' mean it is a later knife referencing an earlier event? tony

Hi Gents this is new to me. I just bought a joblot of 100 badges for 8 quid. I was after a couple of military ones I recognised but it also included this one..... a bit of googling pointed towards it being Masonic. Dark blue enamel and approximate diameter of 10mm... Hope it is and hope you like it tony

The Royal Marines
Farkas replied to leigh kitchen's topic in Great Britain: Militaria: Badges, Uniforms & Equipment
Hi Gents what an awesome thread.... my contribution is an excerpt from the Admiralty Account of 39-43. This is from "The 'Winkle Barges' at Dieppe" 'During the raid, and after the troops had been withdrawn, the flakships picked up a number of survivors from the water, many of them wounded. Some were from the Royal Marine Commando. "one marine still had his Bren gun," wrote the first officer quoted, "and he was no sooner on board than he demanded oil and flannel, and lighting a cigarette, began to clean his Bren." -----/---- Gents, I don't know why but this gets me choked up every time.... hope you like it too tony -
Hi Gents I've always thought these goggles were probably ski goggles and from Austria or Italy. They came from an estate in the area of the border... I had never got round to 'googling' them or whatever. The ones below are army surplus that I've just bought for 2pounds plus post. They are apparently German 1960's desert issue. So I've googled tonight and i came across mention of WW2 Africa Corps goggles in a cardboard pouch. The older goggles have a cardboard, wrinkly and uneven feeling case. Can anyone tell me are these Ww2 German please.?

Hi Gents i hate hearing of robbing b******s like this... should be a specific law to cover HM awards I reckon. My Grandfathers were sold on EBay without my permission and because Austro-H are unnamed are gone forever... also please Can someone identify the end left medal for me, thanks if you can and... Hi Binky do you have any update on the action against the person who put them up for auction? and I'm curious how this has left you? I hope the auction house was 'responsible' and you were not out of pocket. tony

Hi Gents your help if you can please... my intention is to contribute to this forum before I ask to withdraw from it... But.... please I would appreciate some early help. --------- posting this form has re-lit family conversation. My Sister has just told me that, my Nana, Anna Farkas, told her that, our families Vienna residence was 'taken over' by the nazis. My mum says 'Never heard that - wrong'. But I can see an address on this form that includes "polezei". could anyone please translate the question and answer for us? thanks for looking Gents tony
