Great contribution Odulf. Don't stop. @ Gunnar, you are right. The Harms who received the observer badge on 21.05.1918 is not Gerhard. It should be the Art.Mt. Harms from LFA who was at LFS Barge and later promoted to Vz.Fl.Mst.d.R. on 21.08.1918. But Gerhard was canceled from the list of observer on 19th Sept. 1918. That means the date of award to Gerhard Harms is missing. Regards Alex

Now I recognise the picture of the reverse with the notation. Flugmaat Harms received the observer badge on 21th May 1918 while he was at Kofl N. Flugmeister Harms was canceled from the list of observer on 19th Sept. 1918 while hw was with II. SFA. Regards Alex

I am looking for informations about this early Romanian military pilot. He received Romanian license #4 on 18 July 1911. Was involved on the second balcan war 1913, at WW1 leader of a squadron and died on July 27th, 1918. His brother Ion Cpasa was also a geat military pilot. If someone have further information I would be very glad. Escpecially on the awards he got for his aviation service. Does anyone have this book: Zburătorii României mari from Dr. Valeriu Avram? He is mentioned on this book. Thanks Alex

Hi David, I couldn't find a special reason for the award of the EK2 and the other awards. He got the EK2 for the good work he done during numerous flights, not for one reason. Same for the bulgarian awards. The unit at Varna works vary close with the bulgarian navy. On various flights bulgarian officers flew as observer on german planes. Müldner was one of the pilots who flew with bulgarian officers several reconnaissance missions. Regards Alex

​I found an enlisted jasta pilot who had a victory. Marat Schumm was with Jasta 52 since Feb. 1918 and had his first victory on 17.05.1918. It was a S.E.5a. He got the EK2 on 30.04.1918 (see document) and was promoted to Sergeant on 11.07.1918 and on 15.07.1918 to Unteroffizier. EK1 on 26.07.1918. Regards Alex

They consider conducting an airplane as something that could be learned by most peoples. Most pilots flow double seater planes and in most cases an officer was the leader of the plane. He took the decisions and directed the pilot. Another reason was the low numbers of officers. Most were needed for observer training. Enlisted pilots were on all units including Jastas and giant planes units. On the navy there were enlisted pilots and observers. Regards Alex

I own myself a Ulanka for an officer of Ulanen-Regiment „Graf Haeseler“ (2. Brandenburgisches) Nr. 11. He was transfered to the Fliegertruppe late 1917. Could not say if he was an pilot or observer. He wore the uniform without any modification during his duty at the Fliegertruppe. No winged prop device on the boards. Regards Alex

He doesn't wear a bavarian uniform, look at the buttons. Like ccj told, there are NO Bavarian Dragoon regiments. I don't know why the bavarian crown is in the top of the badge. Regards Alex

Possible is also FA 27 but according to the other pictures offered from the same estate it should be FFA 27. Regards Alex
