    3. Hello Gerd, Post number 3: specialist badges for soldiers and NCO?s There are 4 grades: 3,2,1 and M for master. Older ones are made out of brass and enamel, newer ones are made out of aluminium and paint. In the most cases brass ones have scewplates. These badges were founded by the ministry of defence in the year 1954, 13th July. They were awarded till the end of the soviet union. Conscript soldiers can get the 1st. 2nd. and 3rd class. Only long sevice soldiers can reach the M master class. Normally the 3rd class can be awarded after one year, by the commander of the bataillon. The next class can be reached after 1/2 year later. regards Andreas
    4. Hello Gerd, Post number 2: Academy badge - nice badge It is an global military college badge (not higher academy badge). These badge was founded after WW II and were awarded till ~ 1955. The letters BY are the russian abbreviation for "military school" On the srewplate you can see the name of the producing factory. "Siegesfabrik Moskau" The military college badges also exist with years and for the different branch of services After 1955 they introduced the white rhombus shaped academy badges, with the state seal and the red star. regards Andreas

    6. Hello Gerd, I think your last shoulder board are not soviet ones. The last pair looks chinese, but not sure. There are two good web sites, about soviet uniforms and shoulder boards. One about civil uniforms and shoulder boards (miner, civil shipping, transport ..) an one about military uniforms. I try to find them ....... best regards Andreas
    7. Hello Gerd, military shoulder boards from army personal from 1943 to 1948 are five sided. (Post 7) After 1948 the army switched to the trapeze style (six-sided military shoulder boards). (Post 3) Navy personal shoulder boards and general officer shoulder boards from 1943 - 1948 are six-sided. After 1948 all the military shoulder boards are six-sided. regards Andreas
    8. and the last document. 20th aniversary of victory over Germany The last title in the documents is MAJOR and his full name is GOLOVCHENKO, PIOTR SEMIONOVITCH. in 1946 he was a first lieutenant (victory over Germany) in 1949 he was a captain (30 years army) and in 1958 he was a major (40 years army) best regards Andreas

Hello Rick, (IN FACT THE ACTUAL BESTOWAL DECREE IS NOTED ON THE BOOK BUT I AM NOT SURE IF I AM SEEING IT CLEARLY) you are right there are two letter and a date looks like уи 30.02.56 (not sure with the month) Yes I have documents for the medals.     13. Hello, on friday I got this litte nice wartime group in. Nothing spectacular but nice From Major MAJOR GOLOVCHENKO, PIOTR SEMIONOVITCH 10 awards with documents. 1. Order of the Red Banner s/n 503730 (mot likely a long service award from the end of the 60?s) 2. Order of the Great Patriotic War 2nd Class s/n 447963 (variation with brass hammer and sickle - looks like mint made) 2. Two Order of the Red Star s/n 613098 and 3069897 3. Medal for Combat Service witrhout s/n 4. Medal for Victory over Germany and a few aniversary medals Hi Gerd, that was the group you missed. regards Andreas
