Thats great dave, thanks. I guess the Isenburg was am bavarian general for the same reason as the several other german princes were prussian generals. And than ofcourse: the prince of all Isenburg lands was a member of the confederation of the Rhine, as was Bavaria. I guess his militairy career started before the confederation was dissolved. BTW I guess von Throtha's KHW1 stands for Grandcross of the kurhessian Wilhelmsorden? regards David

Hi Dave because of his other foreign decorations I would say number 1. However 1849 was a turbulent year, so any of the other von Sch?lers could be in a position to earn a CHGL4 by then I guess..... But at least we know there are only 4 von Sch?lers around that time, which is surely helpfull. Would there be an 1850/1860 ish ranklist in your collection as well? Maybe accounts in such a list would be comparable to Priesdorf and maybe the lists does mention all the foreign awards.

Hi Glenn Thanks so much for checking! does it state if one of the 3 served in the Kriegsministerium? The list I have is from 1851 and there it says Major von Schoeler von Kriegsministerium. I don't know if there is specific info like that in Priesdorf on Kriegsministerium service, but that is what I have. So I guess I should be looking for someone with a 1850 ranklist.... regards David

I was hoping that it will turn out to be one of the generals mentioned in Priesdorff, because that would make researching his career a lot easier. I think by this time, it would be mentioned as the HG1? Because from 1876 onwards, the Grandduke of Hessen and the Rhine awarded the Houseorder as his own. Am I right there? David

Thanks Glenn, that's great. However I do not see his CHHGL1 listed. I did expect him to be the Prinz Georg von Preussen who got it in 1853, as there are no other prussian princes with first name Georg around that time as far as I can see... regards David

Would anyone know about the Nassau Civil Order of Adolph? It lived on in Luxembourg, but I am especially interested in the 1858-1866 periode of its existence. I have a question about Roderichs father, August. Was he a Major in 1849/1850? Should he have held that rank at these dates, I would be extremely interested in his careerdetails including ODM, because I suspect him of having received CHHGL3 (Knights Cross Churhessian House Order of the Golden Lion) probably mentioned as CHW3 (renamed in the Wilhelmsorden in 1851.
