Good evening! Would anyone of you happen to have access to the book by Volle on the Militär Karl Friedrich Verdienst Orden and could check the data on V.E.L. v. PORBECK for me who received the MCFVO in 1809? He started his career in Baden in 1803, coming from kurhessian service in the Garde together with his father. Thanks so much in advance. David

Good morning ! In his BTB entry Friedrich August v. BOHLEN is mentioned as a russian GM. Couldnot find anything on the web to confirm this, so I am hoping s.o. here might be able to tell me more.... My sources up to know mention him as a kurhessian SecLt in the Garde Regiment, 1806 following his father into Baden militairy service (from 1807-1816) and probably lateron russian service? His brother, Lev Leontievich Bolen, was a russian GLt, Senator and Divisional commander (1783-1855). Thanks David

The story goes there house in Bretterode was badly insolated or very humid and thats the reason half the kids did.not make it. I met HVF (last of the original line of his family) 25 years ago, very kind old man who I am sure is no longer with us. The story of his family is one starting off so long ago and producing so many military officers, a.o. an Oberst and Cavalrycommander during the 1813-1815 wars.

Good morning The Karl v. KNOBELSDORF I am looking for stood as a prussian Major and Commander of 1/7. Landwehr Infanterie-Regiment around 1843. He was an Oberst zD in 1876 and had served in 2. Nieder-schlesisch-märkischen Linie. Hoping to find out some more about him here. Thank you so much before hand David
