Congratulations, you've definitely got the bug
A suggestion: on my hanging cases I make little hooks out of stainless steel wire and push them through a fabric covered foam core backing, then hang the pins over them. with little toggle thingies holding the backing they can be easily removed for photographing/scanning/inspecting, or just fondling and easily replaced.
Sorry, can't kelp you with the EK question, but I find the lion on his cap interesting. I have one of those little lions but never knew what it was for. Why that instead of a Kokarde?
My only other trench knives, a Hammesfahr and an unmarked double edged style.
The tip of the sheath on the lopwer knife has been clipped off, presumably to allow drainage in the wet trenches. I've seen the same thing done with bayonets.
Modified 1n191?, found on the battlefield in 1917.
I find it interesting that the "FOUND"appears to have been done by a handmade stamp but the rest is hand engraved.
that cut down French 1866. Does the spine still have the French markings? I'll try to shovel the dust off the case my similarly reworked Prussian M71 is in and get some pics tomorrow.
