    1. There are some versions that are more like the painting but I now realize that it doesn't seem to match the correct amount of points on the breast star, and I can't see the half moon, but many artists didn't pay much attention to the specific details of the decorations when reproducing it them in paintings. in fact it could be another decoration, but I don't remember many others that fit this description
    2. Hi Antonio, Maybe the Order of the Medjidie of the Ottoman Empire?
    3. hi landsknechte In general there is not much information about this Order, all I know about it is that it has existed since at least the beginning of the 20th century and that it is a merit medal of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Alexandria and all Africa. I found some news of the Patriarch Theodoros II decorating some people with them. https://www.patriarchateofalexandria.com/the-patriarch-of-alexandria-awarded-the-grand-cross-of-the-apostle-mark-to-prime-minister-kyriakos-mitsotakis/?lang=en# https://orthodoxtimes.com/patriarch-of-alexandria-awarded-the-holy-cross-of-the-apostle-and-evangelist-mark-to-john-fourtounas/
    4. Thank you very much Chris! It was of great help, if I read correctly then the medals are exactly the 4 I mentioned. Fortunately they are all easy to find, I will have no problem making a representation of the medals he would have received.
    5. Hello everyone, Now at the end of the year, talking to some relatives, i finding about a great-great-great uncle who fought and died for Italy during WW1, I don't understand much about the Italian medals requirements and I have a doubt about the medals he would be awarded to. So would it be correct to assume that he would be received the Victory Medal, Unification 1848-1918 and Italo-Austrian War 1915–1918? What about War Merit Cross considering his injuries led to death? All I have information beyond what appears in this image is that he volunteered for the war straight from Brazil. Thank you to everyone who can help me with this issue.
    6. Hello This is the King Albert I Veterans' Cross 1909-1934, an unofficial medal for veterans who served primarily in the First World War.
    7. I've already seen some pages of this book, overall it's very good, as for your website, it would be great to include the pontifical medals! I used it many times to identify medals I didn't know about.
    8. Thanks Megan! It really is an unknown area for most, despite having the advantage of many medals available on the market, it is frustrating that there is little information in general about them.
    9. Hello everyone I have recently dedicated the collection exclusively to pontifical medals and have built up a little collection, here I have some benemerenti medals, with a sequence of Popes: Pius IX (1846-1878), Silver Leo XIII (1878-1903), Bronze and Silver Pius X (1903-1914), Silver Benedict XV (1914-1922), Silver and Gold Pius XI (1922-1939), Silver
    10. Hello As previously stated, it is a Brazilian M1908/34 bayonet, this "Z" mark means it was produced in Czechoslovakia
    11. It doesn't look like Bene Merenti, doesn't have the black edgings, it's an entire white cross with an enamel around the central medallion, maybe it's from some veteran organization?
    12. It doesn't appear to be any papal decoration, none of the Vatican's official decorations have this format, they are all breast stars, in addition it appears that he is also wearing the Prince Alfons commemorative badge, correct?
    13. Hello Eason This star has been discussed on other forums for a few years now and has been discussed on this forum too, from what I have seen there have been no major discoveries as to what it is, the central insignia is clearly from the Royal Army Chaplains Department, but appears to be a fantasy piece. Here you will find a little more discussion about these stars.
    14. hello, As said before, it doesn't actually appear to be a medal, there is a model similar to yours for sale on ebay, described as a "medal awarded by Pius IX to the Jesuits", due to the shape of the eyelet that looks like it was worn with a chain. It is difficult to be sure what it is, but it is very likely that it was a gift on the occasion of the Jubilee of 1875 (which occurred in a limited way on the occasion of Italian unification), this type of gifts are very common during jubilees
    15. What a wonderful bar! It's great to know that the medals have been preserved and are on display. Thank you very much for sharing it
