    1. This could always have been taken as a given. It was almost always a certainty that the Aussies would do this.
    2. How many donations?
    3. The Sovereign Military Order of Malta is a sovereign nation, so its medal shouldn't be in with the unofficial awards. Some more medals recently awarded: https://www.milak.at/news/detail/verleihung-einsatzmedaille It seems to be another Austrian medal, described on the Bundesheer website as "Service medal according to §2 Abs.1 lit. c WG elementary events" whatever that means
    4. Of the ABF, yes. So worn in uniform but on the right breast, like Australian state medals. Even though this is a federal entity. Australian medals confuse me at times.
    5. My mate says it's fake in all likelihood, he says its against their Islamic code. He fought them for two years so I'm inclined to take his word on it.
    6. Be very interested to see if it was real. I've a buddy who was in the YPG, I'll ask him
    7. Australian Border Force Operation Medal with COVID-19 Response Clasp. Medal is regularly sized compared to ribbon, the angle of the picture is the reason it looks big.
    8. Can I be put in touch too? I am on a university history society committee here in Ireland and it would be an interesting thing to do a talk on.
    9. This is the newest medal of the 'Ambulance Corps of the Irish Association of the Sovereign Military and Hospitaller Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, Rhodes and Malta', or OMAC for short. Papal Duty Medal 2018 for service as a medic for the visit of Pope Francis to Ireland in 2018. This is a picture of my friend's medal, I'm yet to receive mine but will be in a few weeks. Issued unnamed. While the medals of the Order itself are by definition sovereign medals - of which the Campaign Medal with COVID-19 Clasp is the newest - since this is awarded by the Ambulance Corps as an organisation, and not by the Order's government in Rome as a sovereign entity, this medal is more akin in stature to a medal of the Red Cross.
    10. I tried contacting them twice and both times got unintelligible gibberish back. Of course, I recognise not everyone speaks English, but I would've been better off being replied to in Japanese and using Google Translate!
    11. Hi all, does anyone know if the Japanese Red Cross still do their medals and what the criteria are for them?
    12. What is the right hand medal on the top row and the two right hand medals on the bottom row?
    13. That is an absolutely rancid looking medal. Looks like it's a participation award for a children's sports day.
    14. Does anyone know what official status RNLI awards have? I know Royal Humane Society awards can be worn in military uniform - albeit on the right side I think - and was wondering are RNLI medals similar? 20 year service medal pictured below.
    15. A new clasp for the OSM Afghanistan has been announced for Operation PITTING. To my knowledge the criteria are: - 5 days service on Op PITTING. - 3 flights on Op PITTING for aircrew. For personnel who already have the OSM Afghanistan, they will be awarded solely the clasp. For those who don't, they will receive the medal with clasp. (Picture collage credit: Daily Mail)
    16. https://www.orderofmalta.int/2022/01/14/covid-19-medal-instituted/ Article on the new COVID-19 Medal from the Sovereign Military Order of Malta.
    17. The Sovereign Military Order of Malta (which is, for those who don't know, a sovereign entity/state under international law with permanent observer status at the UN) has instituted a medal. I came across this completely by accident. Not only was I delighted to have something else to share on this thread, I realised that I might actually be eligible considering I'm a volunteer with the Order. Will share anymore updates or info as I get them.
    18. Interesting medal mate, what are the criteria?
    19. Anyone else check this thread sporadically to see if there is any new posts? Or have I just got no life?
    20. I noticed this the other day at the base of the Platinum Jubilee Medal announcement on the official British Government website. Someone in a Facebook group I'm in put in an FOI request and apparently it's at British cabinet level now.
