OK,here we start with the twin brother of Bill's EK.If you look closely at the frame and the core you will see they match perfect! Obverse -
EK 1939 Großmann or Deumer?
Motorhead replied to Bill Garvy's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
OK-you all think it's a Grossmann-but why? Just because an identical EK with the magic"11" at the back? George,I know you are a "hardliner" in saying "Grossmann". But please have a look at the frame and at the core....you see the tool markings at the inner, lower 9 o'clock corner? That is looking like two dots? Gentlemen, please have a look at your collections-especially for a "Deumer" core without a blob. You will find the same tool markings again. And of course the same core.....OK-Grossman could have used frames and cores from other producers.....sounds good? Not for me! "Grossmann had made 2nd class EKs-but the core is completely different.Well, let me resize a few pics.... Micha -
EK 1939 Schinkel Form EKs
Motorhead replied to J Temple-West's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
Here's a 1914 Meybauer pinback-please have a look at the core......For my eyes they where made by the same tool! So if the guys at the german forum are right, a faker has to take an imperial Meybauer pinback, open the frame and has to put a new core in.Then he has to organize an early 1939 Meybauer with the typical Meybauer pin and hinge for the parts......To stay serious-we have a 1914 Meaybauer pinback frame together with the pin and the hinge of an early 1939 Meybauer ......later I will post some comparisons between the two frames. Here's another one you won't see any day-It's not in the same league as Biro's wonderful Godet, but I think it's worth to have a look on it... Micha -

EK 1939 Schinkel Form EKs
Motorhead replied to J Temple-West's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
Thanx,Bill! I think that helps.... George,I think it's because nobody knowns this variation. But the sad thing is,nobody really want to discuss this EK! It's a bad, ugly fake and that's it....Not the way I like the exchange of knowledge. So your Schinkel is from DN? Micha -

Hi Bill-yes,a good scan would be good! Micha -

Motorhead replied to J Temple-West's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
That's possible. But I think my scans are good enough to see that DNs copy of the week is a different cross to ours....I would whish these EKs are real, but we should find out more about it. Unfortunately I haven't got a TR period Meybauer with the "early" pin in my collection.Think I will scan it again with 1200 dpi for more details. Micha -

Hi@all, after reading George's thread about Meybauer pinbacks in another forum I would like to pick it up again....This "Schinkel" EK1 dropped in a few days ago-and since it arrived I don't know what to do with it! My first thought was:boah, beautyful Meybauer Schinkel-but then I realized that I've never heard anything about this version....then I was reading George's thread and I thought everything is fine.... After posting my cross at the biggest german forum(with the thumb down by everybody) I would like to discuss it here, because I hope to get some better opinions like"fake, bad ugly fake".But let pictures speak........
