    1. Are these medics/doctors civil workers, or military? Also, was there some formal law protecting medics from being targeted and killed as there was in later years, or was it simply a courtesy recognized by both sides? I am wondering if these civillian doctors wore the red cross armband as a means of identifying them as non-combatants, thus offering some measure of protection.
    2. Thats too bad Uwe, I kind of hoped I could wear it while I drive around and it might get me out of a ticket with the Polizei or something (or at least a discount, the wife is killing me with that photo radar! ) Of course, I may have had a hard time explaining either the 40 or 50 year award.............still fall a few years short on that one.
    3. I suspected that something was wrong with the 50 year pin because the cross was positioned as an X. Are these kinds of pins commonly worn by safe motorists throughout Deutchland, or is there some specific reason one would go to the trouble of proving their good driving record ( I am assuming that they would have to somehow prove their safe record ), then order and pay for this pin and its accompanying order?? Is there some kind of benefit for motorists who have this item?? Thanks for the fast reply and info speedytop, I couldn't find anything about these!! Sivart
    4. What are these pins awarded for? I am assuming they are both for safety related things....... Are they civil awards? Are they even awards??? Sivart
    5. I finally got ahold of a two piece variant of the CIB. I love the detail given to the veins on the wreath. Anyone know if there is a way to determine where these pieces were made?? How rare are these things, I don't see them very often.
    6. Here they are, side by side. The German made one is on the right.
    7. Found this the other day but I don't know what that last ribbon is. I am just learning the ribbons, so bear with me. #1, Hindenburg Cross WW1, #2 maybe the lifesaving medal???? #3 no idea. The whole thing is dirty and kind of smashed, but it and the second one pictured were free, so no complaints!
    8. Same general with a boy in uniform, wearing a bravery medal??????
    9. Some wreath ceremony......... all these photos are roughly 8 x 10
    10. W/ flag in background and Saddam's medals displayed
    11. I have found out that the award I was given was made by a US company as a replacement for the original award. I missed the original award ceremony with the Bundeswehr unit we shot with, so my award was handed to me by some guy at BN HQ a few months later. I have to assume that somewhere down the line someone else decided to swap the German made award for the US knock-off. The cord was not metal, it was some type of dyed fiber. The plate was not plastic as I initially thought, but it was some weak type of metal, my pliers proved that rather quickly! I have had the whole thing replaced and even took my replacment to the Bundeswehr post adjacent to mine and had them check it out. I will post pics of both after the weekend. Sivart
    12. This is a photo of what I think is an airforce general, I have about 15 others of the same man. I have no idea who he is, anyone recognize him? I place the photo in the early 1990's or earlier, other photos in this set show the flag without the writing between the stars. I have other photos, I will post a few others in time.
    13. Thought you might like to see this, a friend had it tucked away for a while now, convinced him to let me take pictures of it, I am working on convincing him to part with it!!!!!! It measures almost 3 meters by 2 meters, 105 inches by 73 inches, and is made of some type of silk. It is most definately not a tourist flag.......
    14. I am wondering how common the maker mark 37, Adold Baumeister in Ludenscheid, is. This is my first KVK2 and I am just curious about it. Thanks ! Sivart
    15. Iron Crosses arent my thing, can anyone help me out with an id of this?? Thanks! -Sivart
    16. Not sure if this is too touchy for anyone... hope not..... Handmade banner from the Mahdi army in Baghdad from 2006 along with a button of Sadr
    17. Photo of the same man, not sure but I think that you can see that same badge on his arm here also.
    18. I already posted this in the today's finds section, but they belong here also. It that a tank destruction badge on his arm, or is there too little showing to tell for sure?
    19. Thanks for the generous offer Dave, but I already got ahold of a metal plate over here. I don't have it in hand yet to compare it to the one I was given, but I will shortly. Thanks again for the offer, that is exactly the type of thing that I enjoy so much about this forum and its members, the regular display of gentlemanly character.
