    1. How about posting your photos of these interesting badges, 1st and 2nd class, as worn on uniforms. Here's the 1st one from me...I'd love to know his name!
    2. Merci beaucoup pour tout cela Christophe. Tres interessant et tres emouvant.
    3. The carboot is still there. The Guard Room Antique shop (set up in the building which housed the guards, near the entrance) is still there. Four more buildings inside the base are now also used by many antiques dealers. All this is a very popular place for antiques...so popular that they now charge 50 pence to get into these buildings on Sundays (carboot day!) as I assume too many people used to just walk in to browse with no intention to buy.
    4. Yes, privately owned. As to flying, it may be a question of insurance/certification cost? http://www.lincsaviation.co.uk/home.cfm
    5. I must say that the noise of those 4 engines being rev'd up was something not to be missed. I just cannot imagine what it must have been like to hear hundreds of these engines getting ready to take off...
    6. Took these photos yesterday near Spilsby, Lincolnshire, UK. This is owned by a local farmer who restored it to its original state. ?6.50 gets you close to the aircraft and ?165 (more than US$320) gets you a ride inside up and down a grassy field for no more than 10 minutes.....
    7. Very nice. Maybe this can be the start of a thread dedicated to Pilots' weddings? or extend it to Luftwaffe personnel? Here's one.
    8. It's a trick of the light or my bad photos. The letters are NOT scratched in or engraved, they are in relief or raised. I will try to take more shots in the morning.
    9. The letters are "raised"...
    10. What do you think of this one?
    11. Nice set. Always great to see these cases and cardboard boxes.
