    1. Many Thanks Karsten Some great informations about his career Will see later, after sorting all dates out, if there are any gaps left. Kind regards, Komtur.
    2. That makes sense - for the Z?hringer Lion in 1908, when he was in DSWA too! Thanks Rick, Karsten and Sascha for the additional thoughts. Regards, Komtur.
    3. I agree with Rick and Brian - fine restoration and NO sacrilege Best regards, Komtur.
    4. No awards for WW1 but in "Ehren-Rangliste des ehemaligen Deutschen Heeres" page 1041 as wiederverwendeter inaktiver Sanit?tsoffizier in Res.Laz. (in contrast to the other no name of the Reserve-Lazarett ) ??? 12.4.1900 Patent Oberarzt der Reserve der Kgl. Bayrischen Armee 14.6.1904 Patent Stabsarzt der Kgl. Preu?ischen Armee What happend in between? Isn?t it quite odd to change from Bavarien to Prussian Army and from Reserve to active duty? St.Anne awarded 28.11.1908 "zur Anerkennung Ihrer vorz?glich bewiesenen Dienste bei der Pflege der Verwundeten und Kranken w?hrend des Krieges mit Japan" - so late? All these dates are without doubt because of the documents I have in original or copy and there is also no doubt of the originality of the bar. Regards, Komtur.
    5. Thank you for the kind comments. Are there no additional informations on his career? Best regards, Komtur.
    6. @ pegasus I did not get the St. Anne 3rd class with swords @ scottplen There were about 280 awards of RAO4Xw (259 - number of Eric Ludvigsen, 280 - number of Werner Nickel) Best regards, Komtur.

    8. The one and only award of HOH3 with X and Johanniter cross goes in 1867 to: Graf (later F?rst) Otto zu Stollberg-Wernigerode
    9. Hi Paul, of the Prussian orders there were awards on b/w ribbon: KO2, KO2X, KO3, KO3X, KO4, KO4X RAO2El, RAO2ELXaR, RAO3S, RAO3SX, RAO3SKr, RAO3SXaR, RAO4, RAO4X, RAO4XKr HOH3(only 2 awards), HOH3XJohKr (only one) As you can see on the picture of Generalarzt Grasnick persons awarded with higher classes had not to give back the orders with the b/w ribbon. Kind regards, Komtur.
    10. Of course I am interested too, but the question above is not easy to answer. As far as I know, the experience with the Lundstr?m/Krause publications are not as good as it was hoped before. It can make a difference, that in the case of Eric Ludvigsens work we have informations of different German states, what could bring a wider interest. To reduce the financial risk of the editor, it should be the cheapest way of edition. I believe none of us want a luxury edition for the library - we only want to have the numbers. Thanks Rick for the willingness to share this treasure with us Kind regards, Komtur.
    11. The crosses where made by the Berliner M?nze. The minting tools are still in the collection of the M?nzkabinett of the Bode-Museum Berlin. I have seen them there and have pictures of the tools, but unfortunately I can not show them because of copyrights. For better comparison I scanned the medal too. The other pictures I showed before where from a digital microscope. IMO the last one from Militaria-Fundforum looks more like a minted then a casted cross. Best regards, Komtur.
    12. I am not an expert for these medals, but I was told by an expert for decorations of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, that there are copies. But in general, as far as the pictures can show this, I see typical signs of a minted item (like sharpness of the letters an smooth ground) on one hand and typical signs of a casted item (like round contour of the letters and rough underground) on the other. I?ve seen never two such crosses side by side in original and would like to hear, as pinpon590, other opinions. Kind regards, Komtur.
    13. Hm, as far as I know, there are casted copies on the marked. I am not sure, what I have
    14. Thanks Bob for that idea, but I am afraid, that will not help. Sascha wants to know, who is the father of the bride (or the groom). That person is a senior Beamter and not a curassier. He is wearing a star of Badens Order of Berthold I. This rare decoration is the reason of Saschas interest. Best regards, Komtur.
