    1. The pic with him on the horse is written on the back with: "Vater Georg in Alt Geringswalde". The one with the dog with "Georg M?ller" on the back.
    2. Got some pics of one person. The first is made in K?tzschenbroda/Saxony in WWI:
    3. That Plm in Silver gild is to be seen in the Armeemuseum Schloss Rastatt. It is obviously manufactered after 1918 (Godet?). The order is said to be worn by Morath. With regards, Komtur.
    4. From the great book "Gechichte der Ritter des Ordens pour le m?rite im Weltkrieg" (Band II) by Hanns M?ller:
    5. No, it is the Prussian one, because after 1866 there were no Kurhessen at all, because Kurhessen was 1866 on the "wrong" side. Regards, Komtur.
    6. There is only the Oberstabsarzt 1. Klasse Sacksowsky in the ranklist until 1883 (his entry there in the scan). From 1871 (earliest ranklist I?ve got) always in the same position. with regards, Komtur.
    7. The shown HOH X looks like a genuine period Wagner or Friedl?nder. As we know it from the pour le m?rite, the knight HOH of Wagner and Friedl?nder are not to distinguish. I know such orders unmarked, but in every detail identical. with regards, Komtur. A marked "W" in gold:
    8. "That stripe below" is the memory badge for the Kaisers 70th birthday in 1929. The neck decoration could be the Royal House Order of Hohenzollern with swords on the ring. That makes sense, if there was a contact between this officer and the Kaiser in 1929, this could be an award after 1918. So after getting a knight cross of the HOH with X in WWI he got the next higher decoration with X on the ring in the twenties. Daniel could know, if there were such awards after the war. Very nice
    9. Aah! I was wonder wich star he is wearing and hoped it could be the Houseorder of Hohenzollern, but it looks like Saxon Ernestine Houseorder or may be White Falcon. Thanks!
    10. Hm, on this pic from Hildebrand/Zweng Linde looks in his early twenties quite similar ...
    11. As I remember I?ve seen another one like this in a private collection and museum in south Germany. It belonged to a pilot and came with other decorations, fotos and papers of him. I?m quite sure, that this foto is not manipulated. My english is not good enough to describe the reasons, but there is no doubt, if you hold it in your hand. I have also no problems with not seeing a ribbon. I know at least two different versions (seen with Wagner/Friedl?nder crosses) to wear the pour le m?rite in a way, that makes it possible to see no ribbon at all. At first there was the ring sewed on the lower edge of the ribbon and at the second there was a ribbon only 1 cm wide. In both versions you can?t see the ribbon under the collar. I think this was mostly a question of convenience of wearing.
    12. In 15.) Some Reichswehr manouevres 1928 the person in the middle of the picture is General der Infanterie von Heye (1926-1930 Chef der Heeresleitung der Reichswehr). I would like to see a high resolution scan of Hindenburg Orders in this pic !? With regards, Komtur. Another picture of Heye (His orders are to be seen in the book "Prussian Blue" of Previtera):
    13. ... in my archive I have only one foto of such a cross. It is to be seen in the Verkehrsmuseum Berlin (former O?Connor collection). Unfortunately I forgot to notice the name to this cross. Does anyone know the person on the picture above or the maker of this cross? With regards, Komtur.
    14. I?ve got this picture today and want to discuss the pour le m?rite to be seen on it. No doubt it is not a Wagner/Friedl?nder and also not a Godet cross...
    15. btw can anyone show a better picture of Schoeler. I?ve got only this bad one with regads, Komtur.
    16. I think he knows Only the Komtur-star had to be on the right side, but for the Kaiser it was no question the Gro?komtur-star. With regards, Komtur. BTW Mackensen knows too:
    17. That will be very intersting for all the other states too. When we know the average percentage of returns of one state, we can estimate for the others. It will be a very rough estimation, but better then nothing
    18. There are some similar numbers by Sauerwald (Orden-Militaria-Magazin 96/2001) 1861-1918: 12.010 1867-1918: 11.723 But to describe the rarity of the order, these numbers are useless. We don?t know how many of them were given back to the Prussian General-Ordenskommission. In question of the 2nd class of the Prussian Crown Order there could be less recirculation, because it was a typical decoration for foreign diplomats, who often not gave them back. So we see this order often on the marked today (in gold). If we want to know something about the rarity, we need the number of produced crosses. To get these by all the different makers will be impossible. With regards, Komtur For your enjoyment :
