    1. Interesting, It may mean that I can find some info on mine to James H G Lamont, attached. Ribbon is a replacement, but still have the complete original
    2. it's true, I have encountered many "Vets" with these commercial awards, pinned to their chests, normally outside the local Hypermarket where they rattle collection tins for charity, complete with a beret, (Normally Maroon) with a Regimantal cap badge, it all looks very impressive to the busy shopper who, in truth wouldn't now have a clue between offical awards and these commemorative ones, however if it elucidates a donation, what the hell. I'm in no way trying to diminish the fact that they may have actually served, even in a theatre of war, but in the ?end, they are nothing more than unofficial Tinnies (To paraphrase a TR idiom). Lots look better than one!
    3. Nice image, almost the same, although on your image, he has Red Turn-back cuffs on his sleaves, as does the colourised postcard I based my image on. regards Alex
    4. Hi Brian, pity no close ups, I clearly remember the "Boys in blue" with the early Stoke Noddy Helmet and badge, wagging a finger at me for not being ?a "Good Boy", they actually caught me having a crafty fag (Cigarette, and? under age ?by the local canal side. As I mentioned, early memories, (I've have since, of course grown into an eminently responsible and trustworthy member of society!! ) regards Alex
    5. Hi Mike, thanks that you like old Kaiser Bill. There are many images from that period which I'm sure are ripe for colourisation, all that "Bling" they seemed to wear! ceremoniously at least. It all seems very dull until you add a bit of true colour to them, and then you realise what it might have looked like in reality Regards edit Oops, it seem me and my PC were having a moment, unfortunately deleted the original comments, however to reiterate, photo coloured from an original postcard with identical uniform as in the photo, just a matter of copying one from the other alex K
    6. post deleted?
    7. Ah! memories, I'm a Stoke-on-Trent lad born and bred, thanks for posting, It seems odd to see these appearing from distant areas of the globe regards Alex Edit, I seem to recall that earlier versions of the "Noddy" hat badge actually had the City's coat of arms in the centre (Same metal as the badge, not enamelled) instead of the "Staffordshire knot" and was a starburst and crown device, sorry this is best I can do
    8. One from the "Other side" Ioseb Besarionis dze Jughashvili aka Joseph "Batchko" Stalin any comments on incorrect colours appreciated. Once again, Life/Google regards Alex
    9. Genuine thanks for the compliments, I feel quite flattered, I do have more to come, which I hope will be of similar interest regards Alex K
    10. Just a few more lying around on my hard drive. Heirich Neihoff, Ernst Udet, Ritter Von Griem & Gunther Rall (My Luftwaffe period!) Regards Alex
    11. Hi Chris, Tel El Kebir attached regards Alex
    12. Hi Robert, hope you don't mind but couldn't resist the challenge!, attached my rendition of your original B/W photo, colourised in the manner of the true contemporary image, and the other, how I would have done it without any earlier influence regards Alex
    13. For some completely unknown reason it just hit me as South Africa Medal 1877-79 when I saw the photo, so I would also go for that regards Edit having digitally altered the contrast and brightness, I would have expected some slight indication of the dark stripes to appear, however none, so I'm none the wiser at the moment Alex
    14. Now that is one piece of SH*te Alex K
    15. Hi Robert and thanks, it does become addictive,? I have to admit that period colourization you posted ?is really quite fantastic, thanks for posting regards Alex
    16. Interesting that despite it being post-soviet, it appears to still have the hammer & sickle on the obverse. Alex K
    17. A good one in my opinion regards Alex
    18. Hi? 1) It's the Hungarian Royal ORDER of Merit, 1922-1944. 2) Officer class 3) Original IMHO 4) I paid ?360.00 for mine (I Think) EDIT, just checked my records, paid ?260.00 Hope this helps, regards Alex K Here's mine
    19. It HAS to be a fantasy piece, I'm sure one other would have surfaced between 1945 and now. regards Alex
    20. No problems from my perspective regards Alex
    21. Doesn't that also include a plethora of Oaks, and Oaks and Swords to the RK, which I understand were bashed out in the 1970's from the original dies still owned by the Godet enterprise??, given the fact that they are from "original" dies, does that make them original or not?? they are original but not pre 1945, who would pay the 18000+USD for a set of? these trinkets without any provenance, and how do you prove provenance?,? Alex K
    22. Is that box and contents original, and is it yours?, It must be a very rare example if it's in it's original state, thanks for posting. If every recipient recieved the same award (same size), why would they want tp pay for reduced sizes (Minatures), I admit never seen smaller sizes than the one I've got, or in different finishes regards Alex
