    1. Wow! This might just be your best to date... You really captured his facial expression!
    2. I've spent days, weeks in the JO and Moniteur looking for this... Nada...
    3. Have a look at the recipient of this platter... http://gmic.co.uk/index.php/topic/61342-dedicated-souvenir-plate-ww2-wehrmacht-post-1957/
    4. Yes it does, at least partially, thank you. You wouldn't happen to have a decree date would you?
    5. Woa... Wait a minute... (rubbing eyes) What's the diff? Only the ribbon?
    6. Nice one! I love that variant of the Médaille de la Défense Nationale.
    7. Was it translated in English Megs? Or did you watch the original version?
    8. I recently acquired this silver honour medal for aeronautics and as I was reading the recipient's name it reminded me of my favourite TV show when I was much much younger... I was slowly reading the recipient's name "L - A - V- E - R - D..." By now I'm thinking "NO WAY!" But it ended with "I - N"... Awwww... Francophones will know what I'm talking about...
    9. Anybody know what year they switched Napoleon's head from left to right looking? This is a 1869 issue, I've found an 1866 issue also looking right... Any chance of a decree date?
    10. Breast decorations don't go in the order of precedence with medals. If they have one, their order of precedence is solely for similar awards worn on the opposite side to decide which one goes above or to the right of others, so far, I've only seen the MTsS (EMERCOM) with such a set order.
    11. Many breast decorations "For Merit" are for officiers and warrant officers while the ones "For Distinction" are for other ranks... The only write up I've found so far for this one says it's for everybody but I'm not quoting the actual ministerial order which I have yet to find. I either case, the award to the 2 admirals was ceremonial in nature, not the norm.
    12. A new naval award was presented for the first time on 12 December 2013 in front of the Military Council in St Petersburg. Vice Admiral Viktor Kravchuk (left), Commander of the Baltic Fleet, and Northern Fleet Commander Admiral Vladimir Korolev (right) were the first 2 recipients of the Decoration "For Merit" of the Navy. Established in 2012 by ministerial order № 3505, it is awarded to military personnel of the Navy for special services and distinction in strengthening the combat readiness of military units and formations of the Navy, in enhancing combat skills, for courage and bravery shown during the performance of military duties. http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_01_2014/post-3030-0-83787100-1390793426.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_01_2014/post-3030-0-86434200-1390793436.jpg
    13. You mean ammo pouches worn on the service belt?
    14. I bought this lion device on eBay thinking it was for the ribbon of a Croix de Guerre... I just received it this afternoon... It 3.8 cm tall and just as wide from tail to front paw... WTH? Any idea as to where this goes? It has 2 prongs in the back to set it on ... What?
    15. Did you stop work on your ship? It's been an eternity since the last pics...
    16. I was 18, a young airman on my aero-engines trade course at camp Borden Ontario. We were on the hangar floor working on radial engines (from Trackers) when a group of 20+ elderly gents walked in on us. Each had a substancial rack! I was already an ODM collector and could see multiple DSOs, MCs, DFCs, Croix de Guerre, etc... Turned out these gents were the last surviving members of the Canadian WW1 Fighter Pilots' Association... Talk about being impressed!! Had a great hour talking with them. Wish it could've lasted longer... Wish a record had been kept of the conversations... Wish I could remember more...
    17. I don't blame you! Those purchases are really nice! Well done!
