    1. Gordon, I wish I could answer you question. I've read somewhere that this badges were used by participants of AWF Congress. At the moment no other information. waldemar
    2. Some information I found about Antifascist Woman's Front in internet "The Antifascist Women's Front was established in December 1942 as important part of the National Liberation Movement of Yugoslavia. The goals and the tasks of the Antifascist Women's Front were: armed and logistical support to the National Liberation Movement, development of brotherhood between the different ethnic groups, awareness raising and political and cultural emancipation of women, recruitment of new women, organisation of educational activities, and care for the orphans, the wounded and the needy. Given the patriarchal mentality of both the local population and the partisans, the members of the Antifascist Women's Front had to work very hard in order to combat prejudice and discrimination. In their efforts to win more women for the antifascist cause and the communist ideology, the members of the Antifascist Women's Front were also facing cultural and class differences between the women, as well as lack of trust between women of a different ethnic origin. The goal of development of 'brotherhood' between women was apparently not an easy task either. Once the partisan victory was assured, the Communist Party started increasingly aiming at securing a power monopoly. As the autonomy of the Antifascist Women's Front stood in the way of this monopoly, the Communist Party accused the Women's Front of separatism, development of feminist tendencies and straying from the general aims of the partisan struggle. Although the Antifascist Women's Front was not abolished, its integration in - and subordination to - the National Liberation Committees meant its marginalisation. When the Antifascist Women's Front got abolished on its 4th Congress in 1953, this decision was justified by the view that the further existence of such a separate women's organisation would separate women too much from the joint efforts for solving the societal problems [and it would] support the wrong idea that the question of the position of women is somehow a separate women's question, instead of a question of [the whole] community and all fighters for socialism."
    3. It was mistake this were pages 146 and 147 and now pages 148 and 149
    4. Gentlemen, I made requested changes. Pages 138 and 139: enjoy.
    5. Hi Anatoly, many Yugoslavian Order were manufactured by IKOM and converted by ZIN. Two examples Order of Brother and Unity made by IKOM converted by ZIN another sample Order of Labor 1st class - the same story. I think that there are more samples. Coming back to Order of Partisan Star It was my assumption that this Order was managed the same way as the others. But as we have seen the type of pin back don't look like other known pin backs. I couldn't find any information about it. How do you know that Anatoly? lg waldemar
    6. Alex, Afterwards is always easier to say if a government was good government or a regime. At that time it was elected government. I red somewhere 'prediction is very difficult, especially if you try to predict future'. Yugoslavia as a collection are is at the moment understimated. But this fact give us a chance to complete a collection. I remember as in 1995 many russians wanted to sell russian order but nobody wanted to buy them. Delers told me 'who wants this rubbish'. I hear simmiliar story concerning Yugoslavian awards. It is good time to buy some awards, because they are cheap at the moment. lg waldemar
    7. Can you see any hallmarks? I'm wondering who made the conversion. It looks like 'home-made' it means to me that it were probably very first conversion. The conversion were done as far I know only in ZIN later after privatisation renamed in ZNB. It could be that they were converted by ZIN at that time without hallmarks or any other signs. It would be great, if you could post these other conversions. Thank you Ivan
    8. Bryan, you don't have to buy all this order. It is important to establish a knowledge base and it is always possible. And your feedback is even more important. lg waldemar
    9. Very interesting order, it was hypothesis that there must be Orders of Partisan Star which were converted to pin-back. I think, that we will see 3rd class converted to pin-back as well. The way the conversion was done is interesting as well. I saw once Order of National Merit 1st class which was converted in similar way. This ist the earliest type of pin-back, I think. Maybe we will see another types of pin back as well. Thank you Ivan for this image.
    10. hier is Order of Yugoslav Flag 3rd class (Milosevic era) Only small changes in comparison to the earlier orders. Post your other Order of Yugoslav Flag (Milosevic era) hier.
    11. Gentlemen, we know, that after WWII 1945/1946 many orders were converted from Screw-Back to Pin-Back. We have seen such order of the 1st class. Have you seen any order of 2nd or 3rd class screwback which were converted to pinback? waldemar

    13. Order of Grand Star of Yugoslavia, there are two types. This one has red star made from rubies. And nice photo of Queen Elisabeth II visiting Yugoslavia in 1972. She was awarded at that time with order Grand Star of Yugoslavia. You can even see it, Queen is wearing this order on this photo. Very positive photo from internet, Queen is laughing (not seen very often). enjoy.
    14. Marc, thank you - this is maybe better approach how to define the types/variations. waldemar
    15. Thank you Marc, you mean that the key komponent of this set is the neck badge. If yes than indeed we would have 4 different types. Will you see different brest stars as variants? waldemar
    16. Gentlemen, Order of Yugoslav Star 2nd class, or since March 15, 1961 known as Order of Yugoslav star with gold wreath class consists of brest star and neck badge. Brest star has two types: - red star made from enamel - red star made from synthetic rubies Neck badge has four types: - red star made from enamel - 5 torches on reverse - red star made from synthetic rubies - 5 torches on reverse - red star made from enamel - 6 torches on reverse - red star made from synthetic rubies - 6 torches reverse If you put brest start and neck badge together you will have 8 different combination. Velitschko (he is author of this russian book about yugoslavian order and medals), identifies only 4 types. He has no differentiation based on 5 and 6 torches. If you added this differentiation you will get 8 types as shown below. How many types/variations do we have, what is you opinion?
    17. The only YU Award which refers to political commissars is Order of Partisan Star 1st class. The Declaration of Order of Partisan Star 1st class was modified on October 3, 1944. New regulation: ?for Order of Partisan Star I class are to be proposed military superiors, commander, and political commissars who distinguished themselves with courageous commanding. This Order is granted to military superiors from commander and political commissar of a brigade and higher. By way of exception this order can be granted to military commander lower rank or fighter who distinguished themselves by extraordinary heroism but not yet deserved the title of National Hero?; Picture 10.1.1 Colonel Vaso Jovanovic, commander of 1st proletar division, colonel Vlado Scekic commissar of 1st proletary division (from left to right)
    18. Gentlemen, I bought this order 13 years ago over internet from known dealer. I did not check it, put it in a box and forget for 12 years. Lately I wanted sell this order and I got divided answer from experts. Some said it is faked and some others said it is not. I don't know. The facts are: the order is made from silver. Enamel is not enamel but some kind of red plastic. The number is low 1943/1944 but it is T3. Could it be a duplicat made after the war? Your comments are highly welcomed.
    19. This is best book about Yugoslavian Order and Medals in preparation. This 'MY YU-Bible' has app. 500 pages and hundreds of images and is not yet ready. It is written in my 'Swahili' English. It should be ready till summer. Because of high printing costs it is not yet clear if this book will be ever printed. Two pages from introduction: Text(at the moment) excerpted from Yugoslavia: A Country Study, Glenn E Curtis, ed. (Washington, D.C. Federal Research Division of the Library of Congress, 1992. Images, internet or my property.
    20. Dear Anatoly, thank you for comments. I think that you are right, the only differentiation are used stones. Have you ever seen first type with genuine stones? Best regards waldemar
    21. Maybe after you see it, we will have better understanding about classification. I think that we can only define type based on art of used stones and other differences should be counted as variations. look at this:
    22. Gentlemen, I think that we defined two types of this order 1. with genuine stones 2. with synthetic stones I saw lately an Order of Hero of Socialist Labour with serial number on reverse. I have Problem with classification since I don?t know what stones in this order were used. What do you think should we define variation to each type: 1.1. with genuine stones with serial number 1.2. with genuine stones without serial number 2.1. with synthetic stones with serial number 2.2. with synthetic stones without serial number The second Problem: If you look at reverse of Order which was presented by Anatoly you will find out that edge of large silver elements looks differently as in other types. What does it meant again? Do all order with synthetic stones the same design of reverse as shown in Anatoly?s order or do we have again different types or variations? Do you have any idea how to classify this order? Thanks waldemar
