    1. ..........of course Rick... I have seen the rusty back as well... just saw the bright shining red colour.....
    2. .... I don`t want to talk everything into the grave - BUT - this nice red ribbon looks very very new..... against the other ribbons on the bar ?!
    3. ..... it is always a bit "guessing" by answering these battle clasp questions only from seeing these photos and scans.... much more better is having them in hand !!! But from what I can see here I would say N?2 + 3 are clasps for the Frontk?mpferkreuz and N?4 is a unknown (privat purchased) style for any vets award.....not a typical style from one of the big vet awards
    4. That`s it.... the correct "official" Kyffh?user clasp style with the two prongs and the writing DRGM on the back
    5. UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA....... and not the right "official" Kyffh?user clasp style again.... the right ones given out by the Kyffh?userbund had small thick prongs (Klammern) and the writing DRGM on the reverse.....
    6. question of the style....question of the size..... some of these were for the Ehrenkreuz f?r Frontk?mpfer (Hindenburg-cross) - yes........... this one had Spangen too some were for many other medals made by jewellers and worn by former soldiers but NOT given out by any association.... same inscriptions were found for the clasps to the EK2 - but the material and style for these were complete different..... open your minds - wide horizon.......................
    7. ....of course Chris - the term "Flandernkreuz" is just a nickname.... if I am right the correct name is Ehrenkreuz des deutschen Marinekorps
    8. ..... the problem with these clasps is that ALL are in some way inofficial because the Kyffh?user medal was no official medal of any german state - it is a medal of the Kyffh?userbund - a german veterans and warriors organization..... all these clasps are listed and known with the typical style of the Kyffh?user clasps but there are more clasps that were really inofficial and private ordered - they had other inscriptions and other styles...
    9. Arras Flandern and Verdun are known in some different styles for different medals, of course for the Kyffh?user medal as well...
    10. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!!!!!! stop adding clasps to a medal where no clasps need to be added...... ARRAS FLANDERN and VERDUN have nothing to do with the Flanderncross!!!! Nothing!!! @ Pinpon: You are right!!! I forgot Somme - so there are 10 clasps to the Flanderncross and not more!!!
    11. Now you are confusing everything..... The Flanderncross have some clasps (9 I think...) I have shown here some time all together but I can`t find the link now... things like WESTFRONT or FRANKREICH are NOT for the Flanderncross !!! The clasp shown by Naxos is for the Kyffh?usermedal.... another Vets organization medal - for this medal there are many more different clasps (112 I think...) and there are more clasps in different styles for other Vets organization medals....
    12. Sascha Sascha............. ts ts ts........ if you want to play tricks go to Uri on Pro 7 Koenemann came from 4.Badisches Infanterie Regiment Prinz Wilhelm Nr.112 in 1914 he is still in Landwehrbezirk Marburg as Bezirksoffizier - now he has the 25 years cross - and he is Major z.D. now
    13. ????????????????hhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmm........... no Major Vogel is Major Vogel in 1908 with RAO4 and DA cross - on your 1910 photo is no DA cross, I think it is not him.....
    14. ...in 1914 Major Vogel is commander of the Westpreussische Train-Abteilung Nr.17 in Danzig Langfuhr - still with the same awards....
    15. Major Vogel is 1910 listed still in Kurhessisches Train Bataillon Nr.11 - he has BZ3bmE , DA cross and RAO4 , your photo is taken in Wiesbaden (Hessen) - I think it would fit :jumping:
    16. :jumping: My first son will be named RICK !!!! ...... or Richard ............. or Ricky - but something like that for shure!!!! Thank you all - that was great work and a perfect example of working together and trying to get a solution for a problem were other people even don`t see one... Just a photo - but again a gap in history is closed (ok it was a small one... but exotic) - for me there is one more question now...... . it is written one time FD2 and one time FD3.... ???? just a mistake or another riddle from Vietnam? Again - thank you very very much - thats the work that seperates the gentlemen from the rest of the world!!!
    17. Thank you very much Glenn.... I will concentrate my search on these units for all years now :speechless:
    18. right..... found it some hours ago too Ok, this man seems to be my personal Waterloo - a very interesting photo with a very interesting award that seems to be a bit ivisible.... What I learned this evening is that the first rank list that lists french colonial orders is the one from 1906 - but only the black star of Benin The first rank list that lists the "Drachen-Orden von Annam" is the one from 1909 - is this the first year they need to list it or what? No german officer got this order earlier? The cypher is "FD" and 1 2 3 4 5 for Gro?kreuz , Gro?offizier , Kommandeur , Offizier and Ritter I am looking through the complete lists since hours but I can`t find any man with that award............. I will not go to bed untill I have one!!!! :wacky:
    19. .............just as little input: I went through the ranklists for 3 hours now and I found exactly............................... NO and really not even one dragon of Annam to any german officer........ is there any possibility to get a list of awards to foreign military personell by any french friends?
    20. It must be rare because I have never seen it before.... but I can`t tell you if someone finds it that rare to pay a lot for it...
    21. I checked complete 1910 and found only one possibility with one of 4 ..... checked again 1914 and got the same possibility with 2 of 4...... but that`s it, no FD2 in complete Garde Reserve or Garde Landwehr....or Grenadiere or whatever only semi match: 1914 Hauptmann Petersen of Garde Grenadier Regiment N?5 with LD1 and RA3 - he was from K?nigsberg as the photo is too - but can this be him????
