    1. Jim, I know what you mean. There were many Imperial Helmets I have passed on through the years and finally yesterday, I decided to take the plunge and buy it. I must add it was Chris' posting of the "Grips of Death" picture of the mocked up machine gunner behind the logpile that got me thinking about finding one to add to my collection. Great, now I need a Maxim machine gun now too! LOL! Kind Regards, Joel
    2. Bill, I'd have to agree with you on your assessment. Regards, Joel
    3. Chip, Thank you for your kind words. I will certainly give it a little TLC and was wondering, would it be worth it to try in find a liner for it? Or should I as originally intended, display it proudly as it is? Regards, Joel
    4. Gents, Happy to report that I went to the Lowell Miltiary show bought my first EK1, had the pleasure of meeting "Ulsterman", and bought this German Helmet. I almost had the opportunity of meeting "Rick Research" but he was on his way out of the parking lot at the time. Next time. LOL! Though this helmet is without a liner and the interior is a little rusty, I can still make out the maker mark and size being, "ET 64." The exterior is may I add, beautiful. I love the patinaed green paint and the remnants of what looks to be a mailing label. Please note as well the plugged vent holes. The original wood is still apparent to prevent whistling and cold air from getting in .. Regards, Joel
    5. Gentlemen, I have just crossed the threshold of purchasing my first EK1 today. Though not in mint condition, it has the battle worn look that I find equally as desirable. You comment's are welcommed and appreciated. Kind Regards, Joel
    6. Jan, Your collection is awe inspiring! Well done my friend! Regards, Joel
    7. Tiger-Pie, Thank you for posting your photographic expose' on your service in Afghanistan. I must ask, what kind of Camera are you using? Your shots are highly detailed and exhibit the color of the landscape magnificently. Lastly, thank you for your Service! Regards, Joel
    8. Gentlemen, I must commend all of you for the terrific displays and pictures. That log pile shot Chris, is very realistic! Regards, Joel
    9. Bill and Christophe, Thank you for posting your pictures for comparison. It seem's that the detail once again on the oak leaves is different of that of my other's. I would have to say that the WILM's speak for themselves in terms of detail and desirability in my book. Good to see your post's again Bill! Regards, Joel
    10. Guy's, Here is another picture that came in the mailbox. Not exactly in the Trenches. However, I love the barbed wire in the background and as well as, the amount of soldier's who earned their Iron Crosses..... Regards, Joel
    11. Jef, My apologies on not commenting on this picture earlier.. The strain is certainly very apparent on this guy. Great picture! Regards, Joel
    12. Steve I concur. A well preserved and near mint example! A very nice find! Regards, Joel
    13. The darker the better is the way I like to see them. However, if there is particular MM out there not currently in my collection, I certainly wouldn't turn down purchasing it. (If the price was right of course). Regards, Joel
    14. Great thread! C'mon guys there have to be more in the dark recesses of your medal cases... Joel
    15. I must admit I've inspected the rest of my flock and there isn't another Cross in my inventory that exhibits the "flanged out" smaller line on the "F." Has anyone else seen or have this varient? Also, I've noticed that the relief on the core is one of the more pronounced going slightly above the frame. The pictures I have taken do this cross a grave injustice. Maybe I'll try my scanner... Regards, Joel
    16. Gentlemen, On all of the Crosses in which are displayed in my case, there are none that have the detail of this one I just purchased. The detail on the core is crisp and it looks to be jeweler made. The only mark seems to be an "X" stamped on the smaller ring. The frame has that wonderful patina that I love and it has that stored in a "dusty attic" look which enhances the character. I'm amazed at the detail of the oak leaves! Regards, Joel
    17. Tom, I'll give you a shout if that happens! LOL!! I may have to in the long run in order to continue funding my EK addiction.... Regards, Joel
    18. Gentlemen, Interesting Crosses to say the least. The one pieces seem to have a beauty and desirability all in their own! Well Done! Regards, Joel
