Mauser C96
christerd replied to christerd's topic in Germany: Imperial: Uniforms, Headwear, Insignia & Personal Equipment
Thanks Gentlemen Ill keep you in mind Dan Christer -
Another photo which droped in my mailbox today , a typical trench scene with some veterans showing up before the camera you can see in their faces that they have seen more then anyone should in a lifetime. But the interesting thing is in the background A snipers armour , I´m not sure that they where used for snipers only but this is the first card I got in + 20 years of collecting showing this protection armour. The postman made my day Christer

This ribbon bar just arrived from a member and Gentleman of this forum This bar has really travelled around , from Germany in 1920´s to USA and then to France and now in Sweden of all places The bars orginal owner was Major Bernhard Prince zur Lippe-Biesterfeld 1872-1934, a interesting character in Lippe History His brother was Leopold IV Prince of Lippe and his son Prince Bernhard become married to Juliana of Netherlands. The Grand Cross of Lippe House order X was only awarded 5 times if I read my Ludwigssen right ? and Bernhard got his in 1914. A nice piece of history Christer

Here is a new card in my collection , a proud French soldier from the Great war , with two medals on his chest and a shooting award cord ? He is in the 152 th Infantry regiment in Colmar and the photo is dated 1936. Now the same regiment is fighting in another war far away from Verdun, Ypres and Somme. The 152th are now in Afghanisthan if I´m correct, and maybe the shadow of this hard eyed fighter is looking over their shoulder. Christer.

Finland Mannerheim Cross for sale on E.....
christerd replied to christerd's topic in Northern European & Baltic States
Well 400 E for a copy is still alot of money for a copy IMO . Since no one except Finnish citizens ever was awarded a Mannerheim Cross there couldnt be any real demand for a MH cross in Germany except for collectors. Christer -

Finland Mannerheim Cross for sale on E.....
christerd posted a topic in Northern European & Baltic States
Yep , what do you know , one of the rarest awards in the world ( 191 ) awarded and in class with the UK Victoria Cross , last I saw one for sale it had a start bid of 40 000 Euro !!! But on Ebay.de you can get one for no more than 100 E at the moment http://cgi.ebay.de/1569-Finnland-Orden-Kreuz-Freiheit-1941-/300589945560?pt=Militaria&hash=item45fc8e92d8 There is a small problem, as I belive it the real MH crosses are not allowed to leave Finland ? Can anyone confirm that... Christer -
