    1. Yes - the values of an un-attributed Civil/Military MBE are the same - basically the only difference is the ribbon. Tppe one in "Gold"(Gilt) is the OBE The value is perhaps ?10 more than an MBE Ralph
    2. The Oak Leaf emblem denoting Gallantry was introduced in 1957 and not made retrospective. Hallmarking of MBEs stooped in 1937 with the introduction of the 2nd type (King/Queens Bust instead of Britannia). All you can really say is that ,if on a 2nd type MBE it was awarded after 1957. With no provenance the value is limited to the price of an MBE - ?80-95 and the cost of the Oak Leaf. If a proven recipient with confirmatory documentation then anything in the ?800- ?1100 range depending on Civil or Military award. Ralph
    3. DA Indicates a Deck Hand enlistment in the Trawler Section of the RNR. DH is his rate - Deck Hand. RNR is Royal Nabal Reserve. RNR records are available on microfiche at the NA but unfortunately not on line. Ralph
    4. Hi Owain, Unfortunately naming does not mean that it is gazetted - Honorary Awards were not Gazetted but were named. The Registrar of the Order at the Central Chancerymay give you his award date, even if not gazetted In case you are unaware there should be a recommendation for the award to Mishin in WO373/164 and to Saidi in WO373/169 both in the National Archives, Kew. Regards Ralph

    7. The basic problem lies in the fact that there is no indication from which Regiment/Corps he was commsioned. Quite a few members of the RA were commissioned into the Corps which makes it difficult to pin down any individual. The IGS 1937 was a relatively scarce award to the RAOC, they had 83 MMs awarded in WW1 and not that many clasps to the 1914 Star. If it was confirmed that he was, in fact in the RAOC as an other rank (must have been an O/R due to the LS medal) then there could be a reasonable chance of narrowing him down. Ralph
