I thought it was illegal anyway to purchase these (the real ones). True??? -
I have at least three backpacks that I believe are from WW II. I have pics of the packs and buttons. Any help in verifying timeframes would be appreciated.

Pulled some things out of an old footlocker. A .45 caliber pistol holster. It is stamped "SEARS 1942" on the back. Any info would be appreciated. It was painted black on the front.

Can you share a picture of the helmet? That might generate a clue or two? Ed

Hi all, Here is some more info from my friend: "Ed, I just ripped a few pics of the Internet. The one I am after ideally is the one like the Sgt. is holding in the picture. The other attached pics mainly show old styles. That SgtMaj Swagger stick looks nice but I would hate to think of the price! Did they mention what they were after for it? Those 'normal' riding crops usually go for between 50 dollars for a poor condition one to 100+ for perfect to new condition. I am happy with an old beat up one because they are easy to restore and it is only for show! Had a look at other Countries and here in Australia but nothing exact like the RCMP have them made. From what I have been told the manufacturer of the RCMP crops exclusively makes them for the Force not for re sale elsewhere. Thanks again for any assistance Ed

All: I have a friend I trade patches with who sent this to me today. He lives in Capalaba Queensland, Australia. I am also chasing a genuine RCMP riding crop, just in case you have any dealing with your Northern Neighbours! Have a Staff Sgt ceremonial uniform on mannequin only missing the horse whip. This is proving harder then expected. After 5 years still nothing I have sent him an invitation to join GMIC, but thought I'd put this out there now. Ed

Had a very close friend, USN LtCmdr,(ret) that gave me most of these. Finally got around to taking pics. Others are from my collection and my Dad's awards. Didn't take time to identify each, but would be glad to if anyone is interested

"UBIQUE" - Royal Artillery
speagle replied to speagle's topic in Great Britain: Militaria: Badges, Uniforms & Equipment
Mervyn, I concur with your comments. I think we have better opportunities to learn more by "surfing" different forums. Sometimes, if we are looking for a certain topic, we tend to go to that one forum, read anything there, then either leave or look at one or two more then sign out. To all who replied and posted additional pics/info; thanks again. Ed -
Alex, A beautiful piece of work. Congrats Ed

Thanks Mervyn. Don't really want to get rid of it, but it's always nice to know as much as I can about my stuff. So, how are things with you? Mom is doing very well. Just celebrated a nice Valentine's Day yesterday. I'll continue to look in the nooks and crannies for more "stuff" :-) Take care my friend. Ed -
