Here's a cool set, with the Partisan doc included in the back of the book! Unfortunately, I was never able to get complete research for him... The stuff wasn't classified, it just didn't exist in the archives! -

I used to have a few dozen of these back in "the day" but this is my last one... Enjoy! (P.S. just got in some new lights for my camera... I like 'em!) Dave -
Soviet Lieutenant General Ivan Ivanov Kravchenko
NavyFCO replied to Ed_Haynes's topic in USSR: Soviet Orders, Medals & Decorations
This all got me digging through my photos. Here's a general (HSU Mitrofanov, Vasili Andreevich) wearing not one, but TWO blank faced academy badges, just like Kravchenko's! -
Soviet Just WHAT is this guy wearing, anyway?
NavyFCO replied to NavyFCO's topic in USSR: Soviet Orders, Medals & Decorations
And I noticed his bottom row.... Unfortunately cut off from history by an uncaring photographer, we see that our dear Colonel General Leonid Mikhailovich Goncharov is far more than just a "desk hero" but a true "Warrior Internationalist" on even the most stringent terms!!! I see Vietnam... others... Ricky, eat your heart out!!! -
I was looking through my HSU/Cavalier/General photo pile looking for a photo to trade for the other general's photo when I took a glance at this one. I honestly don't even know where this photo came from! Anyway, it was the first time I've ever "looked" at it. I first noticed his lovely rack (and still affordable if it were out there!) and then my eyes wandered...

Since the group came from me in the first place, I'll be willing to do a trade to get the photo for Ed. PM sent. (Thanks for being willing to do that, BTW!!!) Dave -
How 'bout Oksana Federova, Miss Universe 2002, and a REAL St Petersburg police officer? If you care to see more: http://fedorova-oksana.ru/

Soviet Nice Pilot's Uniform to HSU Chernikov
NavyFCO replied to NavyFCO's topic in USSR: Soviet: Other Militaria
Rick- Actually, about a year ago I dumped the majority of my medals collection and am now almost exclusively a cloth collector, save for my Red Stars and Homeland 3rds... I figured it was going "back to my roots"... I started off by collecting cloth, got into collecting awards, collected awards exclusively for over ten years... and now back to cloth - mostly because it's something I can afford!!! I can post more photos of my cloth collection if folks are interested. Dave -
Soviet Lieutenant General Ivan Ivanov Kravchenko
NavyFCO replied to Ed_Haynes's topic in USSR: Soviet Orders, Medals & Decorations
That's the EXACT photo from the personnel file! I wonder if the researcher who copied the record yanked the photo????? (If so, I'm pretty pissed... I've been offering a LOT of money for the photos from the personnel files, only to get the "they can't do that" reply...) Anyway, would it be possible to get a 600/1200 dpi scan of the academy badge? I think we could probably adjust it to see what is on it in the photo, though staring at my screen, it does look blank from here. One thing I do love about the photo is that he's wearing his "1st Horse Cavalry" badge which was supposed to be for veterans of the unit from the Civil War... I still wonder how he got that! Dave -
Soviet Medal for Military MERIT
NavyFCO replied to Paul R's topic in USSR: Soviet Orders, Medals & Decorations
Back in "The Day" I used to have a contact that would send me one For Valor and one For Military Merit per month (sometimes more) - I believe they were coming from Estonia. The For Valors were $35 each and the Military Merits were $30 each. At one point, I had several dozen of each of them, but then dumped the whole lot for what I paid for them. If only I knew then what I know now! Dave -
