    1. The Order of Duarte (1931-54) which existed prior to the Order of Duarte Sanchez & Mella exist in 2 size for the lower grade. The one at left which is 59 x 85 millimeters is typical of cuban workmanship. The smaller one at right, might be of french manufacture (but there is no hallmark).Actually I guess the smaller one ( 42 x 65 millimeters ) was made at request of a european citizen who was awarded the Order of Duarte and wanted a badge which its size would be similar to his others european Orders. But it's only a guess. Low grade of Dominican Republic are seldom seen, much less often than Grand Cross. I ever found amazing that Dominican Republic had used a same big size badge for all grade of Order of Duarte & then of Duarte Sanchez & Mella Order.Actually I saw a small size officer only twice in 20 years, but the big size much more often. Known manufacturer are Vilardebo & Riera of Havana & La Royale of Rio do Janeiro. But Henri Walravens of Bruxelles in Belgium had manufacture some set of Grand Cross of another Dominican Republic Order, the Order of Trujillo (one such set was sold in London in december 1993). From an auction in Basel last year we know that the Order of Duarte Sanchez & Mella was made also by Carlup-Fibo of Santo Domingo and I agree with Jeff Floyd that after 1959 the manufacture of Orders in Cuba should have stop fast. 2. Here it is Jordan Order of the Hashemite Star. It's made by Arthus Bertrand and despite being a high gallantry award, the quality of manufacture is average. Emmanuel
    3. Here is the second picture taken at Martyr Memorial in Amman. On top there is the rare Medal of Honour and below the very rare Gallantry Medal. Emmanuel
    4. Here I enclose some of the pictures I took in Jordan Martyr Memorial in 2004 (sorry no digital camera). The Jordan Martyr Memorial is the equivalent of the Army Museum,if you ask Martyr Memorail all taxi driver know where it is,but if you ask army museum, nobody knows. It's worth the visit, for diorama of battle and uniform of King Hussein + Medals & Orders. On this picture at left hand side you can see a common medal ( the medal for the 1973 war ).But this medal is almost ever offered for sale with fantasy ribbon. Here you can see the real one ribbon !!!! Emmanuel
    5. Just to be as complete as possible this is a picture of Jordan 1941 Campaign Medal.
    6. This is one of the recently instituted medal by King Abdallah II. I was told it's Medal of Superiority (translation by Owain). It's in silver gilt, but the medal exist also in bronze. No idea of ribbon, but there is an eylet for a ribbon ring above the head of King Abdallah II. I guess it could have been manufactured by WORTH Co a british medal manufacturer. If anyone could help for the ribbon colour,or even better to provide a ribbon,I would be glad. Size : 42 millimeters in diameter. Emmanuel
    7. This is the Joradn king Hussein 40 Years of Reign ribbon. If anyone can provide this ribbon,I would be glad. Emmanuel
    8. This is the Jordan 40 Years of Reign Jubilee Medal 1952-92. This medal was manufactured by Huguenin. This medal comes with a ribbon, that I unfortunately do not have (my next post will be the ribbon colour bar). If anyone can help ? Emmanuel
    9. This is the Jordan king Hussein Silver Jubilee Medal 1952-77. It's a medal that was widely awarded, not only to royal guest, but also to all members of the Armed Force in service that day. But we cannot be sure that this medal was manufactured in the same numbers as the figure of Jordan Armed Forces in 1977. I mean that lots of soldiers may only have got the ribbon. Actually this real silver medal made by Arthus Bertrand is not difficult to found in the middle east, but almost ever without ribbon. The colours of the edged stripes symbolise the red for Army, the sky blue for Air Force and the dark blue for the Navy. Emmanuel
    10. This is the Jordan Concord & Reconciliation 1987 Medal with its correct ribbon (another error of A.Prieto). Emmanuel
    11. This is the Jordan Training Competence Medal. As for all the 3 medals of Competence, this medal was first instituted as a service ribbon, only later in the 80ies the medal was created. Again this medal was first manufactured by Arthus Bertrand and later by Huguenin (shiny look). That one is made by Arthus Bertrand. Emmanuel
    12. This the Jordan Leadership Competence Medal. Again these medals were first manufactured by Arthus Bertrand and then by Huguenin (shiny look). That one is made by Huguenin. Reverse is same as Administrative & Technical Competence. Emmanuel
    13. Here it's Jordan Administrative & Technical Competence Medal. At the origin it was only a service ribbon, but later in the 80ies the medal was instituted too. These medal were manufactured by Arthus Bertrand, and after by Huguenin (shiny look). That one is from Arthus Bertrand. Emmanuel
    14. Here we have Jordan U.N. Service Medal Emmanuel
    15. This is the Jordan Service Medal 1967-71 (Wisam al Khidmat) and it's a badge, not a medal with ribbon. But there is a service ribbon worn on ribbon bar ( red, black, white, green in equal width stripes ),but this ribbon is never attached to the medal. Size : 47 millimeters. Emmanuel
    16. This is the Jordan Battle of Karama 1968. A battle in which Jordan Army fought and won against an israeli attemp to enter in Jordan. Emmanuel
    17. This the Jordan War of 1948 Medal (It's the Israel War of Independence). Refer to text posted by Ed for more info. It's a not so easy to get medal as complete, because the crown is fragile and the straight bar suspension for the ribbon is often found broken. Also ribbon is impossible to found in ribbon bank of OMSA,OMRS & french dealers. Emmanuel
    18. This Jordan WWII Commemorative Medal with its correct ribbon. There is later strike of this medal, but that one is not a restrike. Emmanuel
    19. No case for mine. The case is rarer than the star itself.... Is it a swan hallmark on the pin ? Emmanuel
    20. Hello Gentlemen, This is a breast star of National Order of Vietnam french made in silver gilt (hallmark on pin). You will see on next picture the reverse and what wrote Jeff Floyd about reverse mirroring some of the obverse. And yes there have existed variation in size & quality and recently some fake have surfaced of very very poor quality. A good reference on Vietnam Republic is the book of John Sylvester Jr. Mine is 92 x 95 millimeters for a weight of 112 grammes. What is the weight of yours ? Emmanuel
    21. Hello Hugh, Very nice display. Is your Nao Sena named ? It's the Navy Bravery (3rd from left on 1st row of indian medals). Here I add mine which is an unnamed one from the early 50ies. If you could post yours too, collectors could compare. I know Ed also has one or more than one.... Emmanuel
    22. Morocco Wounded Medal This is Morocco Medal for the Wounded (War in Western Sahara & Border War with Algeria). Unfortunately it's a miniature, but it's better than nothing. Emmanuel
    23. Morocco Order of the Throne It is the 4th Highest Order of Morocco (after Order of Mohamedi, Order of Istiklal & Order El Ouala). But Order of Istiklal & Order El Ouala seems to never have been awarded to foreigners. The Order of the Throne : Ouissam el Arch was also created 14 december 1966 (1st ramadan 1386).Dahir N° 199-66 It's a 5 classes Order. The Exceptionnal Class consist of a gilded breast star (see below 1st picture) and a gilded sash badge. This class is limited to 20 members. The 1st Class is a silvered breast star alone & is restricted to 60 members. The 2nd Class is a gilded neck badge & is restricted to 350 members. The 3rd Class is a gilded breast badge with rosette on ribbon & is restricted to 1000 members. The 4th Class is a silver breast badge & is restricted to 10.000 members. You cen see on 2nd picture a 3rd & 4 th Class. You can see the slight difference. The 4t Class is real silver & very sharp. The 3rd Class is gilded metal and much recent. During the 1st State Visit between Morocco & Belgium in the early 60ies King Baudouin was awarded the Collar of Order of Mohamedi and his brother Prince Albert was awarded the Exceptionnal Class of Order of the Throne. Later in 1993 Prince Albert became King Albert II and during a State Visit to Morocco in 2004 he was awarded the Collar of Mohamedi. Emmanuel

The 2nd Class is restricted to 20.000 members and is bronze. The reverse is blank. Emmanuel
