    1. As long as I understood those 3 stars are the equivalent of Labor Medal in 3 classes. They costed me 1 $ for 1 star. Enamel is of good quality (not made today). Size : 40 millimeters in the largest dimension (from left to right tip of point). Emmanuel
    2. I forgot that one which is possible to found in ex-Yougoslavia. No one seems to know what exactly is,but it is of very good, typically yugoslav workmanship. Maybe an award created only for Tito State Visit in Rangoon. Tito made a trip to India & Burma in 1954,by boat.... It's made in silver gilt & reverse is blank. I have to add that the one with standing soldier and BIA on reverse (see the 1st picture I have posted today) has also been made in Yugoslavia and is then of surperior quality workmanship.Lots of Tito minister & high ranking officials got awards during this State Visit. Yugoslavia also issued a medal for that voyage. Emmanuel
    3. And the last one Thura Tazeit a Bravery Award for armed force. That one is in silver, but again a very small medal (diameter 30 millimeters). Emmanuel
    4. This is an Army Award. It's Thiha Thura Tazeit or Brave as a Lion Medal , it's a gallantry award to armed force. Again it's metal and small : 25 x 28 millimeters. Reverse is blank on mine, but earlier might have had a reverse inscription ? Emmanuel
    5. The last 3 were not found in Burma, but from auction in Europe. Burma Aung San Civil Bravery Medal (a kind of George Cross ?) Reverse blank and size : 50 x 30 millimeters. It's in metal, not silver. Emmanuel
    6. And their reverse. again translation helps would be appreciated. Or Ed knowledge. Emmanuel
    7. Hello again, Here is 3 medal which I guess related to Police.Lots, lots of Police Officers and servicemen wore 1 or 2 ribbon yellow with bleu stripes. But there is others awards too. The one in center with the crossed swords is a kind of gallantry award, for army ? for police ? That one was expensive 15 US $ but ribbon is again correct (with ribbon brooch pin to attach to uniform).I have to add that this one with crossed swords was hidden by the guy who sold it,he was a litlle bit afraid. Reverse posted on next Emmanuel
    8. And the reverse of those 3 medals for those who read or have burmese friend. helps always needed. Emmanuel
    9. Hello again, here are 3 medal related to Army Service (again with their correct ribbon). The one with a green ribbon with central red stripe is as long as I remember a kind of Meritorious Service Awards and is not so much worn on ribbon bar of soldier and officer your cross at airport or in the street. The star with bleu ribbon and central stripe of red & white has been translated by : Valouros Warrior Star. But this star is easy to found for 3 dollars without ribbon,I paid 10 US $ for 1 with its ribbon. It is correct as their is only 1 show case in their army museum, and this medal is on display. I have to add that at Sedona Hotel, there was an officer which had his wedding celebration the day I arrived there and he wore that decoration with that ribbon too. The gilded star with 3 stars is a kind of long service awards for the 3 service (Army,Navy,Air Force). The reverse will be posted next. Emmanuel
    10. Hello Gentlemen, here are some of the medal I got in Rangoon in february 2006.I got some more, and my total budget was around 100 US $ for +/- 20 medals. Here on this picture are 3 medal related to the Liberation War (against the japanese first, then the british). All have their correct ribbon !!! I have visited their very boring Military Museum (it's not its current name, but it is army museum). The one with standing soldier has letter B.I.A on reverse ...Burmese Insurection Army. Maybe Ed could help,as his fantastic encyclopedia is not anymore on line. Emmanuel
    11. Hello Red Cross, This is Order of Daniel A.Carion with its correct ribbon.Like lots of people I bought the badge on e-bay to peruvian seller without ribbon. But Arthus Bertrand did manufactured that ribbon (in their ribbon book at the shop in Paris, they have a "ribbon bar" for it,but width of Grand Cross sash). After having asked several time for it,and also many others ribbon,I finally get successfull to get it ( I do not live so far from Paris). It is ever hard to obtain foreign ribbon at Arthus Bertrand shop, and for those who do not speak french and do not know which lady of the staff they have to ask for....it's "mission impossible". There is such a lenghth of this ribbon for sale on e-bay now. Emmanuel
    12. Hello Mike,I agree with others members opinion.Your breast star is typical from last 25 years of the XIX and up to 1910. Earleir breast star from 1818 to 1840 were of different workmanship ( much flatter often ).Value for a non chipped one is between 350 and 550 euro,if you got the case it's a little more....Orginal case are marked D.C.I on obverse lid an made of brown leather. Emmanuel
    13. Hello Mr Floyd, the medal at right with 3 star on it has wrong robbon too.Ribbon should be the one put on the medal with 1 star ( on lot 2) This 3 star medal is a long service award for all service so ribbon has colours green, sky bleu and navy bleu with tiny red strip in middle of then coloured stripes. In 1 week or more I will post more info. Emmanuel
    14. Hello Mr Floyd, the medal at left ( good soldier medal ) has an incorrect ribbon, even if the ribbon is from Myanmar it is not correct. The correct ribbon for this medal is green with wide central red stripe and a very tiny black strip in the middle of the red one (it is exactly the ribbon you post on the top of this topic). I have been there in february 2006,but more important I spent 2 hours in their very boring Military Museum, where there is only 1 showcase with medals on display,so photo allowed, but you can take as many notes and darw sketches as you wish,so I did. I will post later what I have in Myanmar, but it seems the yellow ribbon with bleu-greyish edge stripes is fit for many medals of Police and Civilian working for the administration.Lots of policemen and civil civic ??? teams wear ribbon bar yellow with bleu edged stripes. On lot 2 the 45 millimeters "look a like" breast star is common to found there in Scott Market for 5 US $ and good quality. I will post more later, too bad the the phaleristica encyclopedia is not available any more ....? Could youn tell me why ? Emmanuel
    15. Hello I might be interested by duplicate of Sudan Medal & Order you have. Can you contact me on : svieta@skynet.be (before sunday 15 march) or on emmanuelhalleux@hotmail.com after monday 16 march. Thanks. Emmanuel
    16. Hello Lilo, sorry to disappoint you,I checked this afternoon, and even if there was a Chile Order of Merit Gold Medal 1st Type in the Kuenker 2005,that one was without ribbon.... Emmanuel
    17. Hello Lilo, If Baden Powell got the Gold Medal in 1911,he got a commander cross like mine (but he certainly got one in real gold, mine is silver-gilt).So your supposition is 100 % correct. When he got a First Class in 1929,this is a Grand Cross with sash badge & breast star with a dark blue sash. Concerning the ribbon of the 1911 decoration,I have to say that the 2 decoration that "live" with me,came like that. You saw on the award document what is the colour of the 2nd Class ( = Silver Cross with blue enamel & White/Blue/Red ribbon ).But Tammam had another Silver Cross with a ribbon ( Blue/White/Red ),and I saw often this ribbon combination. In june 2005,there was an auction in Germany with a Chile Order of Merit Gold Medal from the 1st Type, which is the same as the one Baden Powell got, this evening I will scan it for you. Can you post a close-up scan of the ribbon bar,and or medal bar of Baden Powell ? I saw you ask on another topic about a Sweden Life Saving Medal Gustav V,and yes as a foreigner he should have got one with latin motto on reverse. Emmanuel
    18. Hello Lilo, The first one is the grade of Silver Cross and this one was awarded to a minister of Fran?ois Joseh of Austria in 1909.On the award document which I have the colours are in similar sequence : White/Blue/Red. I know that some will say that it's the same like serbian ribbon for the bravery medals, but on serbian ribbon the sequence is inversed ( Red/Blue/White ).... But to add to confusion the 2nd picture is a Commander Grade which I purchased in Chile,it's absolutely NOT like the modern Order of Merit, actually it's same size as the Silver Cross, and here the sequence is : Blue/White/Red.Also in the UBS auction from the Tammam collection in novembre 2008,there was another Silver Cross with ribbon ( Blue/White/Red ).Mr Tammam is a great specialist in lots of topic, and Chile is one of those topic. What we know is that from 1906 to 1924 there was only 3 Classes (with the 2 highest here on display). The lowest was a similar cross without enamel on arms. I think there is a lot to debate.... Emmanuel
    19. Hello Will, it would be very kind of you.I'am also looking for Order of the Revolution (the silvered one ) & Order of the Loyal Son of Sudan (the gilded one). Also the Medal of Educational Hierarchy. Of course I guess they ever came without ribbon, but in the case you can get one with its ribbon it's always a PLUS. My e-mail : svieta@skynet.be Thanks. Emmanuel
    20. Hello Chris, at first in the 60ies the Order of Sudan : The Medal of Honour (highest award),the Sash of Honour (2nd highest award),Order of the Republic,Order of the 2 Nile,Order of Distinction were produced by Garrard's from London. Later Spink has manufactured them, but now the current manufacturer is Eng Leong Medal from Singapore.Actually Eng Leong has manufactured them (except Order of Distinction). In 1969 there was a Revolution in Sudan, and at this occasion they have instituted new revolutionnary Orders ( but without enamel ).Those revolutionary Order are not of so good quality and when they came to market they are almost ever without ribbon, but no evidence has been found that they were minted locally. At least the ribbon were not made in Sudan. Emmanuel
    21. The bronze medal in center with the standing soldier is Order of Persistence. This Order shall be awarded to all officers and the other rank of the People's Armed Forces,State Security Bureau,Police,Prisons & Fire Brigade Forces,in appreciation of their persistence characterized by the most daring manifestations of heroism, sacrfice and martyrdoom for the protection of the People's Revolution, achievements of the Nation,Unity of the country and safety of its territories. Ribbon is sand yellow with tiny green stripe towards each edges. If you would think about to sell that one,I would be very much interested & I can offer a good price. Emmanuel
    22. And here the reverse of Mauritania Medal of Honour (here 2nd class).
    23. On top row at right and on below row at left there is 2 similar ribbon. It's Mauritania Medal of Honour (it's a 3 class award) Emmanuel
    24. Hello Gentlemen, Here is Mauritania National Order ( on ribbon bar of the general it's upper row at left ). Here you can see a 3rd Class ( commander grade ).Lower grade miss the surmounting crescent & star. Emmanuel
