Bulgaria People's Republic of Bulgaria
Riley1965 replied to Riley1965's topic in Central & Eastern European States
Hunyadi, Thank You!! The tri-fold medal is my favorite. I don't have any answers regarding the 5-sided suspensions and the tri-fold. If I were to guess I would have to say that it was the Soviet "Influence". Doc -

Bulgaria People's Republic of Bulgaria
Riley1965 posted a topic in Central & Eastern European States
With all of the recent People's Republic of Hungary posts, I remembered my small People's Republic of Bulgaria medals. Here's the Medal for 25 Years of Socialist Victory. Doc -

Soviet Some reconaissance from Moscow Museums
Riley1965 replied to Ed_Haynes's topic in USSR: Soviet Orders, Medals & Decorations
Thanks for the info about wheelchair access. It's a shame . I could stay in one of the museums all day. If I spoke Russian I would sit and talk with the veterans. With History/Military History being my favorite and best interest, I would enjoy hearing their stories. Doc -
Soviet Hierarchy of Soviet Awards?
Riley1965 replied to Christian Zulus's topic in USSR: Soviet Orders, Medals & Decorations
Christian Zulu, This will be my last post because I agree with Ed..It has run it's course. If my post offended you, I apologise. My nickname Doc was earned as Combat Medic. The servicemen and women i served with and treated bestowed the Honorable nickname upon me only after I had gained their trust and respect. It is a U.S. Military tradition. All the best, Doc -

Soviet Hierarchy of Soviet Awards?
Riley1965 replied to Christian Zulus's topic in USSR: Soviet Orders, Medals & Decorations
Wild card & All, I'll have to look at this thread with fresh eyes tomorrow. News of a failed heart proceedure that I had several years ago has left me a bit tempermental today. I'll take a look tomorrow and hopefully be more open-minded. Doc -
Soviet Hierarchy of Soviet Awards?
Riley1965 replied to Christian Zulus's topic in USSR: Soviet Orders, Medals & Decorations
No matter what each individual feels is a "hierarchy" there still remains the official Order of Precedence. Sure the stories that research reveals may sway your opinion, remember that everyone has their own opinion and opinions are like A**h***s...Everybody has one. For me I'll stick with the Official Order of precedence. To try to tamper with it to suit your own ideas is a waste of time Doc -
Soviet Here's a First
Riley1965 replied to slava1stclass's topic in USSR: Soviet Orders, Medals & Decorations
That dealer needs to get an eye exam!!! I trust Paul's eyes and knowledge. It's just a dealer trying to make a name for himself. Attacking Paul is not a good start!!! Doc -
Soviet Hierarchy of Soviet Awards?
Riley1965 replied to Christian Zulus's topic in USSR: Soviet Orders, Medals & Decorations
Christian Zulus, I must agree with Ed, Dave, Andrey and Dolf. I find your arguements without merit. Let's not try to "re-invent the wheel". The sources Dolf quoted are among the gentlemen I turn to when I need help with a Soviet ODM. Doc -

Soviet Afghanistan Order of Almara
Riley1965 replied to Alexandre's topic in USSR: Soviet Orders, Medals & Decorations
I've checked the OMSA Database and did a Yahoo search. Nothing in the OMSA Database I did find out that Tito was awarded the Grand Collar and sash of the Order. Maybe Ed can shed some light on this? Doc -
