    3. Eric & Dan, Add me to the list of those loving the Umalatovas. I just bought my first two. The medals are nicer than a lot of Soviet jubillee medals Doc
    4. Ed, You have me droolin' again!!! Excellent group!!! Doc
    5. Guys...I made a mistake on the Leningrad medal. At first glance it looked like two variations. I was wrong. I checked my PMD and took a better look at the pics I was definately wrong. Sorry for the confusion. Doc
    6. Dan, Variation 1 has the ring soldered seperatly. Variation 2 has the ring stamped as part of the medal Doc
    7. Dan, Thanks!! I have his Soviet and Belgium book. I didn't know about the French book. I'll have to find it. I'll scan the full color ribbon chart and send it to you. It is kind of a rough looking chart. Also, Thanks in advance for keeping an eye open for the achievement medals. Doc
    8. Eric, GREAT display!!! After i finish my campaign medal project I'll have to start on my labor group. Dan, Good collection of labor medals!! Doc
    9. Thanks Rick!! I don't know how to read Russian. I can pick out a few words and in this case go by the date and the ribbon but that's all. Doc
    10. Dan, WOW!!! I just love those ribbon bars!! That large rack sure has a lot of campaigne medals. A Great collection!! Doc
    11. Dan, Judging by the date of the GPW and the ribbon of the Victory Over Germany medal. I would have to say that it is a commemorative badge. Exactly what it's called i don't know. Doc
    12. Dan, I really like that you have both variations of the Leningrad. I am missing the Leningrads from my collection. Very nice!! Doc
    13. Dan, I like those. I just had to pull Daniel Byrne's book off of the shelf. Great find!!! Doc
    14. Dan, There are a couple of different maker's of this badge. Also, there are two different award documents, one standard cardstock document and a rare hardcover document. When you get the badge please post a pic of the reverse. I wonder if thereis a maker's mark. One version does not. Anyway, they are a nice addition to any collection. I have both examples with and with out maker's mark and the hard cover document. Enjoy!!! Doc
    15. Rick, I agree with you 100%!! The PMD book is a must have for everybody. A flat-bed scanner(no commission for me ) is important to scan your Orders, Medals and badges to post and for a pictorial record of your collection. I keep a file on my computer with a scan of every ODM I have plus it's backed-up on a CD-ROM (helpful in case of theft or for insurance purposes). Doc

    17. I have all but the Leningrad and no documents. You have a very nice group of citiy medals! Doc
    18. Dan & Ed, Thank You for helping Pat!! Pat, I'll echo what Dave & Ed have told you...Get the book. You will find it to be a very valuable source of information. Also visit the website Dave told you about. I'm a member of that forum and have found it very useful and there are many knowledgeable people there willing to help just like Ed and Dave here. Doc
    19. Gerd, That's a great website!!! I loved the map of the GPW Thanks for sharing this with us!!! Doc
    20. On the flip side of the coin...You can not honestly reject the possibility that such a version may exist. Just because it hasn't crossed your palms doesn't mean it isn't a possibility. Doc
    21. Although I've never heard of a gold version until now, I trust and respect Paul & Paul. This wouldn't be the first rare version of an ODM that they have found. Remember the Medium Mondvor mint mark ORS Paul McDaniel discovered with the serial number in the 8700 range. If they found gold versions then I believe them. Doc
    22. Alan, Those are STUNNING!!! I've never seen them. Doc
    23. Yes, Welcome!!! Thank you for the information!! Doc
    24. Thanks ed!! I wasn't sure where to put it. Doc
