    1. Recently I acquired an Ostvolk 2nd/class with swords. All I have to go on as to the color of the award is the ribbon, which if you believe it, would indicate that it is in the gold class. My question is, it looks as though the "gold" finish was never applied to the medal. Not just worn off, never applied. Has anyone ever run into this in the past? I'll be happy to post or email pics if necessary.
    2. Absolutly not. Purple Hearts should be awarded for wounds received in combat; nothing else. Otherwise you might as well start handing them out to anyone who ever got a nosebleed, or a broken finger, or VD.
    3. I'm thinking about getting this one. It looks good to me, but always looking for 2nd. or 3rd. opinions.
    4. Here is a recent addition to my collection. Any thoughts on the presentation?
    5. Hello Mr. Hzenba, In response to your enquiry, Dear Mr. Hzenba, in response to your inquiry, until recently I had never seen an Ostvolk Medal of any kind. Nor do I know anything about Herr Lang, other than that he did design the award. My knowlege is pretty much limited to the fact that it was awarded to Soviet citizens who fought for the Germans, and was awarded with swords for valor and without swords for merit. I don't know that the Aryan race had anything to do with it specifically, but I could be wrong. Thanks for looking at the awards, and please check out the other awards that I've posted from my recently acquired grouping. Nick.
    6. Yes he did, but I'm surprised he didn't grab a Knight's Cross while he was at it. Some of the items in his grouping are a lot harder to come by than one of those.
    7. Per Paul's request here are several overviews of Mr. Livsey's German bringbacks. If someone would like a better look, I will be happy to send an email of an individual award. Please don't hesitate to ask. Nick.
    8. I can, but it'll be a day or two off. The older I get the less time I have to do anything.
    9. I know the feeling! Thanks for the input. Nick.
    10. Thanks, Gents. There are others in the grouping as well. Feel free to look and comment.
    11. Dear Paul, what I would like to do, is sell the entire grouping, US & German, together. Failing that, I will sell the German awards off piecemeal, and sell the US items together.
    12. Well, Gents (and ladies), here is what I have for documentation on Mr. Maitland Lifsey, late of the US 3rd. Infantry Division. All in all I think that this is a very nice grouping for a vet. (A lot nicer than what I was able to bring back from Vietnam). Mr. Livsey also brought back a number of German awards that are posted in various places on the forum, including a 25 Panzer assault badge and an anti-partisan badge. Please take a look at all of it.
    13. After having held this one in my hand, I can see why Dan drools when he sees it. It's a solid beauty. ;)
    14. Thanks for the input, Fischer. I would like to sell the entire grouping together, but if that doesn't happen, I just may end up keeping this one for myself. ;)
    15. When I initially dug these out of the package that they came in, I was hoping that there would also be a 1st. Class, but unfortunatly there wasn't. Thanks, for the input, Matt
    16. The "gold" one looks as though it was never plated at all.
    17. Yes it is magnetic, Robin. It flew to the magnet like it was a long-lost love. ;)
