    7. Great story..What do you guys think posted on Craigslist 18K German WWII Eastern Winter Campaign medal - $1800 (saratoga) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Reply to: sale-277231341@craigslist.org Date: 2007-02-11, 6:07PM PST The following is taken from the letter of authentication that I received from the seller. he is the son of a war criminal and livs in South and central America. "This letter is to authenticate the origins of the 1941/1942 Campaign Medal awarded to participants in the Winter Moscow campaign of 1941/42. This particular medal is crafted in 18K gold and was awarded to only a select few of the recipients. My father, ,,SS? ObersturmbannFuhrer Joachim Stuletki, received this medal for his leadership and participation as a line officer assigned to the Sonderkommando 4a, of Einsatzgruppe C, Russia 1941-42. For his actions with Einsatzgruppe C, my father was placed on Simon Wiesenthal?s list of SS officers wanted for war crimes. My father and I escaped to Bolivia in 1946 and I have lived in Guatemala and the Canary Islands since 1957. As far as I know, my father?s name remains on Wiesenthal?s list." it's ok to contact this poster with services or other commercial interests PostingID: 277231341 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Copyright ? 2007 craigslist, inc. terms of use privacy policy feedback forum

    9. Hi Andy I would leave it as is and try as stated to perserve what you have. there is a layer of laquer over the brass and the stencil is on top of that coating. so if you were to try and clean the patina of the brass you would destroy both. George
