Now that you suggested I think about it... I could probably stay 3 weeks and that's allowing 500 Euro per day and roundtrip business class tix for TWO!

Umm, yeah. My friend was married and he was considering transportation and hotels for two. I have roof replacement coming up and I expect it to be a real kick in the coccyx.

To be fair, my price includes new gutters/downspouts,soffitt, and fascia trim. Siding is a 2014 project.

    7. Newest arrivals in today's mail: Jager's German Artillery of WWI and Robinson/Robinson's Handbook of Imperial Germany. Yea, I know, should have owned these books long ago.

    8. Not much on my mind, but a bit of snow on the ground

    9. Nothing like some ragtop music to take off the December chill.

    10. Off to see the Wizard

Nah, I don't need any professional opinions on that subject.

    11. Ok, I arrive back home only 3 days before Christmas and need some gift ideas for the wife that I can order online! I wonder if she prefers Imperial German or Soviet medal groups?

      1. Claudius

        Claudius

Not so much. Tried it and my wife wasn't a big fan of the gift. LOL

I did buy her a Polish medal once; Long Marital Life. :)

    12. Okay, I confess - I've gotten used to the new format. Still not the best for my small 10.5in screen, but not frustrating as before.

Food to hear that. Time you started planning your next Xmas pressie from your better half... A BRAND NEW LARGER SCREEN!! :)

    13. Okay, website design software purchased; website design in process. Let's see how long it takes for me to get a website up and running.

    14. One month after moving, I'm still busy with "new" house issues. Still a few boxes to unpack, especially in the new War Room. And a last-minute trip to Fort Bragg for a consulting gig. Slowly reading through the 24 pages of unread posts.

    15. Only 3 more weekends left to scour the Yerevan flea market

Hello, I have seen your references to the Yerevan flea market. I am not familiar with this, sounds interesting, what can you tell me about it? Thanks John

Irish, I am currently living in Yerevan, Armenia. Every weekend there is a junk, flea, craft market in the center of the city. There are a few medal dealers with tables; 99% Soviet, but a few other odds and ends pop up now and then. It's only 5 minutes from my apartment; so, I usually stop by every weekend to see what's on offer.

    16. Painting and interviewing realtors to sell this house and move to wife's dream home. Forgot how much I dislike handyman work.

All advice is welcome and good. After 30 years in the Army, we've only bought 2 houses and sold only one - this will be the second. Of course, the "dream home" is meant to be the last one we'll own.

Interviewed two realtors so far; one's low price was the others high price. The 3rd one will be the tie breaker.

Painting and new carpet. That's all we'll do... Since we have a cat, we figure the price of new carpet will help ensure we aren't on the market too long.

    17. Planning my first purchases of 2011; books!

    18. Preliminary unofficial score says I passed... So, I guess I have the standardized test score to be a HS teacher. ;-)

This exam was for social studies/history. After taking a refresher course, I'll be sitting the exam for German as well.

Well, I still have to take a course on the "how to be a teacher" part. That starts in August. Then I'll have a provisional license to teach in Virginia. Then I'll need to find a teaching position. Still a bit to go...

    19. Previous owner left a "jungle". Slowly cleaning up the mess, but it's difficult without chemicals. For the weeds, not for me. :-)

Yea, the nasty bits are flourishing. Unfortunately, we've a well and waterfront; so, I'm reluctant to go on full attack.

Grats!! I still have not done that, anything over 8 becomes too much work! :)

    23. Re-created D-Day landings with paintball yesterday. About 250+ players. Much rather hit the beach with paintballs flying than real bullets.

There were two teams; red and blue. In the morning, red was the Germans/blue the Americans. In the afternoon, we switched. So, both teams got to attack and defend. There was a point system, but I didn't pay attention. I was just a private. ;-)

About Imperial German militaria - yes. About beer drinking - I've forgotten more than he will ever know.

    25. Recent milestones: TacHel - 5009; Brian Wolfe 4500; Laurence Strong 4000. Posts that is... Well done, old men!
