Hi, by fortune I received today this nice estate of a young Caporal (Walter HERBERT, born 1938), member of the 2e REP and probably before also of the 1er REP. I received this estate direct from his sister (he died in cause of an accident in 1966). He was engaged in the Algeria campaign and his parachutist badge is numbered 75254 (the early Drago model). Unfortunately, unfortunately there was no little bittle picture of him findable... My question is now: is there any possibility to research him? Thank you for any information! Regards, Matthias What you see is all what is left from him...

According to the works of Lawrence-Archer 1887, Gritzner 1893 and Trost 1910 the correct term is: 3rd GRADE, 1st CLASS. In all three books only the first model ribbon is discribed. But simultaneously to the ribbons of the first model it is most likely that it is the same ribbon for all classes in the 3rd grade. Sorry, but I can only serious confirm the colour and the quality of the above shown 3rd class, 1st grade. Regards, Matthias A new work about Chinese Imperial Orders is on the market, probably someone here is in possession of this book...

Hi Lilo, the above shown photo displays a 3rd grade, 1st class...and the ribbon is exactly the right one (in colour and quality). Regards, Matthias

This is (on the left) Olt. Lange, Chief of the flight trainers of the Luftwaffe pilot school (Flugzeugführerschule) AB 113, Brünn, the nice decorated trainee on the left is unfortunately unidentified, also the name of the dog (but according to one of the trainers this dog was a very bad mutt ;-) Matthias

Thank you Rick !! Thank you Chip ! In his little military estate I found a "1813 - 1913 Olga Dragoner" pinnie from witch I have made my conclusion (but we all know that this means nothing) that he was a member of this Regiment...Sorry, no details on the shoulder if I zoom the picture up (the big O would have been made it very easy ). @ Rick: In the first step no published name, I try to research this person first... Matthias

1. No, this is not rare, the Olga Orden likely was bestowed to more men than woman 2. You can trace it in the State Archive of Wuerttemberg, Stuttgart, Inventory E 16 (Orders and Medals), in the Archive of Hohenlohe - Neuenstein you can find some records about your Stiftsprediger Delitzsch 3. ? (sorry) Best regards Matthias

...this is the same Gentleman... Could somebody help with the identification of the uniform (and / or unit) ?? Could this probably be a Dragoner uniform ? He is probably a member of the Dragoner Regiment Olga, Wuerttemberg Nr. 25...BUT I am (like above) far away from sure.... Thank you for all helping information. Matthias

Could somebody help me with the identification of this uniform ( I guess it is very early Reichswehr, but I am far away from sure...) ?? The medal bar is a nice and typical Wuerttemberg NCO (Feldwebel) bar (last one is Baden, merit medal silver). So, please, give me a little help..... Thank you for your efforts + best regards Matthias

Thanks a lot for the clarification !! Best regards, Matthias

Also hi! For more clarification here is the backside of the picture. "Admiral Nanaka - Picture taken February 11, 1929". Maybe the translation is not correct and for that reason I have attached the original source. Best regards Matthias

...cut off date should have been August 25, 1944 ? (?) I have had a look in Klietmanns "Phaleristic Romania" but there is nothing special to found, only the date of institution: 1st April 1942 (and some interesting records for the bars). Matthias -
