    1. It is unusual. But not impossible. An old soldier, active up to 1938-39, getting the kvkII with swords and the 2 occupationmedals and finding other professional horizons afther that. We are talking about a 14 million people army here. So there must be thousands of non standard carrier moves. How many badly wounded soldiers took up other positions in society? So i would not discard this one just yet.
    2. Overpaying a bit is way better than buying a fake or lose one in the mail. In 10 years you'll think about it as a good buy for sure.
    3. Gentlemen, I've seen quite a number of W&L mm 100 EKII on the market, and all minty. This kind of observation makes me quite jumpy. As i own an mm100 EKI , i am in the market for a nice reasonably priced EK II 100. I think i found a nice one. Minty again ... and i'm not to crazy about the yeardates on the core, they seem to flat. I believe they should be a bit more rounded. And the "3"? Am i seeing ghosts? Curious to hear what you think...
    4. I just noticed the remains of the bronze finish on the reverse of the backplate on yours ... Here's my fll:
    5. It is an original Fll, second type pin-catch arrangement. I do not know the gentlemen you refer to, and i can only judge it by this picture, imperfect as it may be. This being said, i must say it looks very much like its down to the bear zink. Also there is a hint of bronze in some of the leaf. I would have to check my files, but i'm quite sure, for a silver one, the needle would not be bronze. The FLL is especially known for not retaining its finish by the way. My (identical) FLL CCC or (nks) is posted here a number of weeks ago. I can ussure you it is not a silver one. Compare the color of yours with mine. In my eyes they are identical. Again, only you have it in hand, not me.
    6. The ek is on top of the ribbon, the ribbon does not go through the ring.
    7. If i am not mistaken these Deumer (?) come unmarked. I checked it briefly for markings but i did not see any.
    8. I made the mm a little wet and gazed at it in bright sunlight. I think it is a mm 4. Can this be right?
    9. Micha, This Deumer, is that a private purchase? Wartime? Interwar?
    10. Do they need to be soldered, always, to be good ones? This is turning into a very interesting thread by the way.
    11. I had not noticed at first, but indeed, the patina is made by a liquid. I have seen this cross somewhere before, but i cant remember where.
    12. I've been diggin in my boxes at my parents place. I even found W-SS cloth i did not knew i had, and that does have a decent chance of being orig. That and a lot of kit, witch i am not so fond of anymore. So here you go: The first one is a comm. witch pictures King Albert. This is the warcross with the big palm. I could switch 'em. But i wont. I've always loved the size of these. They are somewhat bigger than the averige medal.
    13. This is my mm55. I think it looks fine. But is has some denting arond the rimms wich i havent seen before. What do you think?
    14. I always hesitate to rake up an old thread, but hey... It proves someone is still reading htem! Now my question: I thought these discs and nuts were from the 1920-30-ies and not period. Am i wrong?
    15. Indeed, it makes no sense. 1. Where would they obtain significant numbers of EK2? Its easyer to produce something themselves. 2. Why chose a TR medal? Ideologically this poses a problem. 3. I am not aware of any medals given or worn by resistance fighters during the war in central or urban Europe. (I believe i have seen some period french resistance insignia, but no medals) I did find a number of interesting artikels there in the past. But this puts a dent in my esteem for WIKI.

    17. Someone did ad this on WIKI. That doenst make it true however. http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kreuz_des_Warschauer_Aufstands
    18. Found this one on the net, from a seller who advertised his reproduction award of an original. I will translate the essentials: the EK 2, with a Polish coin attached to it, was used as a medal to the resistance fighters in the Warshau rising. It seems very unlickely for several good reasons. Does anybody know about these?
    19. Is this the correct mount or does the disc need to be the other way around?
    20. Pz.Div "Wiking" / III.(germ.)SS-Pz.Korps / Armee-Abt. Grasser / HGr. Nord Lippert, Lucien, 20.02.1944, SS-Sturmbannf?hrer, SS-Frw.Brig. "Wallonien" What a list! From memory: if i am not mistaking, being part of "wiking" at that time lippert died at the river crossing when braking out of the cherkassy kessel. He was at the time still leading 4500 of his men and was trying to organize the river crossing to safety. (lah at the other side) Only his body made it to the other side in a zeltbahn. again from memory: Olin, Ola, 28.02.1945, SS-Obersturmf?hrer, 7./SS-Pz.Rgt. 5 / 5. SS-Pz.Div. "Wiking" I believe Ola refused to return to Finland as the Fin government ordered in 44 (?) and stayed with Wiking. If i recall correctly he was reponsible for destroying 112 russian tanks in one engagement in operation Bagration with a handfull of Panther. It is said Wagner gave SS-Untersturmf?hrer Nieuwendijk-Hoek the DKIG from SS-Frw.-Panzer-Grenadier-Regiment 48 'General Seyffardt also. This one is not in the list. Ruus, Hando, 30.12.1944, Waffen-Obersturmf?hrer, SS-Div.F?s.Btl. 20 / 20. Waffen-Gren.Div. der SS (estn. Nr. 1) Fought like a devil on the Narva front, executed in Leninggrad in 45. A book with the bio's of all these men would make quite some literature. A dkig with data from its recipient , thats a dream to me. 21. The list in not complete. Where is Leon Degrelle, only to name one?
    22. Thank you for the reply. I was somewhat worried about the inner corners ( left arm upper beaded rim) and the back (inner corner upper left). There the cut is somewhat irregular.
