    1. Many thanks for your kind words, Paul. The grouping is quite complete, with the daily wear and sash belts, the bandoleer and Kartuschkasten, the cap (with cypher), epaulettes, and boxes for the epaulettes and sash belt. If anyone has a pic of Prinz Heinrich wearing this tunic, I will be interested ! Incidentally, the tunic on the left is the early style prussian General?s tunic, the one on the right the later style..... Regards, Sandro
    2. Yes, Paul, both items are mine. The tunic is that of Prinz Heinrich, brother of Wilhelm II, as a la Suite of the Hessian 25th Feldartillerieregement. Rank is that of a Generaloberst im Range eines Generalfeldmarschalls. Regards, Sandro
    3. Gents, I took some pics of Wilhelm II?s Paradefangschnur as Grossadmiral of the Imperial German Navy. Hope you enjoy them. Regards, Sandro
    4. Many thanks, Gents, I will post pics as soon as it is here. Best regards, Sandro
    5. Many thanks for the additional pics, Komtur. Although I see some differences in detail with the Winkler star (for example, in the wreath the eagle holds), all in all, based amongst othe things on some of the characteristics you mention, the Winkler star is probably the real deal. We should be able to confirm this soon, because through an amazing stroke of luck, I managed to buy the star at a reasonable price (odd how these things go, occasionally). As the information in this thread has been very helpful in my decision to buy it, thanks to all who contributed. I will post pics of it when I have it in hand, which should be in the next few weeeks. Oh, and Komtur there is no reason to be hesitant about your English, I believe it is just fine. Many thanks again, Komtur, Wild Card and Schiessplatzmeister, for all your help, Regards, Sandro
    6. Hi Wildcard, I'm sure the flaired end may have a role in stabilizing the star when worn, but I have a fair number of high ranking imperial officers tunics with relevant loops, and they tend to have upper loops in the same width as the lower loops. Of course that doesn?t mean the star cannot wriggle its way down through sheer weight, as you say, thereby widening the upper loop slightly and stabilizing the star. But inormally, upper loops are not so wide as to fully accomodate the flaired portion of the needle. Incidentally, I noticed the Winkler star is on hold. Bugger, I was contemplating a move dependign on Komtur?s pics (which I would still very much like to see, Komtur, so when you get them .....). If someone has a "spare" original black eagle order star , or spots an original for sale, I will be much obliged. And if anyone would like to see one of the two tunics I own that once belonged to persons awarded the Black Eagle Order, please let me know, and I?ll post pics. Regards, and thanks again to all who helped this make an excellent thread with lots of good info. Sandro
    7. Many thanks, Komtur, I appreciate all the help you have given sofar. And even if it should turn out the star that started this thread is not, in the end, what it purports to be, we (or I at least) will have learned something. Best wishes, Sandro
    8. Many thanks, Wild Card and Komtur, for your latest input. I spent a day going trough the web, Thies catalogues, books and german magazines trying to locate a similar star or even a similar Ritzmmarke for S. Friedeberg und S?hne, but sofar without luck. Wild Card, interesting point about hte hinge attachment. What do you make of the difference in style between your star and the one shown in the pics that started the thread? Regards, Sandro
    9. Many thanks, SPM, I will do a bit more research, but this is starting to look interesting. Regards, Sandro
    10. Many thanks Komtur, that gives my search a bit of direction. Regards, Sandro
    11. Hi Schie?platzmeister, Many thanks for your input. You are absolutely correct concerning the maker mark. I enclose some higher resolution samples of the pics posted earlier. Do they help at all? Regards, Sandro
    12. Many thanks, Wild Card, look forward to the comparison pics when you have received your star. Regards, Sandro
    13. Can I invite your opinions, please, on this black eagle order breast star offered by Kai Winkler? Many thanks in advance. Regards, Sandro
    14. I thought I?d share with you an interesting item I recently acquired. It came from the household of Prinz Heinrich, and resembles an imperial admiral?s interim baton in every respect (including the case), safe for the gold embossements. The pics showing the Prinz Heinrich interim baton come from the H?sken book. I have received some recent info on the embossments that I intend to investigate further, which may help clarify what we?re looking at. Regards, Sandro
    15. Another thing that has been puzzeling me: white thread to hold the O2 mask strap. I have checked some of the pics in this post, but none of them exhibit this trait.
