    2. I want to show you my collection of austrian and german cap-badges (Kappenabzeichen) with a german background. Tha means, either they are german ones, or austrian ones, that was worn by germans, or could have been worn by gemans (no photo-proof), or just an austrian unit under german command. I won´t show an Edelweiß, because about the Edelweiß we have a lot of threads here in the forum. 1.) Karpathenkorps A german unit (1. and 200. ID) 2.) b.8.Res.Div. A bavarian unit. 3.) 21.Korps In that corps was the group Seekirchner. An austrian unit, commande by bavarian Gen.Lt. Seekirchner
    3. I think I´m finished with collecting Edelweß. Last week I bought the ultimate one! That is originally that one, worn by the k.u.k. XIV.AK. Those Edelweiß were given to the Alpenkorps! The other is an austrian officer´s Edelweiß and my collection
    4. Hi Timo! Thanx a lot for the MIC of Frank Soar! That´s wery interesing. Unfortunately one can´t see, in bataillons the soldiers fought. You wrote, F.Soar used to be in the Balkans. Unfortunately I can´t read all of the script. Th huge paper says, that he fought overseas. So, according to my sources, He might have been in the 8th (sevice) bataillon of the Duke of Wellington´s rgt. That bataillon was formed in Halifax 1914 and in july 1915 it sailed from Liverpool for Mediterranean arriving at Mudros. 6..8.15 it landed on Suvla Bay. Dec.1915 to Mudros, 7.2.16 arrived in Egypt. July 1916 back to France. As far as I see, tha bataillon was the only one, that had served overseas. Do you agree?
    5. That´s strange. I´ve never heared about the word sergeant with "j". Probably french is the solution. I just recieved another 15 star. Maybe you have the MIC too... 16714 Private F. Soar, W.Rid.R.
    6. Hi Mervyn. I wanted to write to you, but the system says, you can´t recieve any messages
    7. Hi Timo! According to Evans you´re right! A have the entire trio of him. 15star is marked with Private and the others with Sjt. Question! Why sergeant written with an "j"??? It sounds russian...
    8. Glenn: Thank you for the tip for the book. Maybe I´ll get one... Dave: That was the sta upon the military flag. Are you sure, it appeared upon the cap too?
    9. Did China have a star like this similar to the japanese one? I think the guy is too tall for a chinese. He looks very "japanese"
    10. Hi Glenn! Thanx a lot! Which sources did you use? I haven´t seen any books about european uniforms, whose countries were not participated in the war. I´m not sure about the Japanese, but the cap seems to be japanese. What do you think? Could it be a german tunic?
    11. Nothing´s for free.. That´s normal... Enjoy your Guinness! Cheers, mate! Tonight I´ll have a drink on you with Calvados

    15. Hello! Please have a look at this wonderful photo. Unfortunately it´s unwritten and unstamped. One can see several gemans and a few foreign officers. One Japanese in a german tunic???? I´d be very grateful, if you could help me by ID those foreign unifiorms. Probably it´s an internation military-mission? Thanks a lot, mates!

    17. And don´t forget the fights of the people of th S.M.S. Emden, when they tried to get back to Germany! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SMS_Emden_%281908%29
    18. Hello Dave! These are very interesting news! Thank you very much!!!!!!! I still have the personal files of the teacher´s association, but didn´t have the info about his company and that he was wounded between 10t and 14th 1915!!!!!. From where do you have those infos, please? I also don´t have any infos about the decorations! What I don´t undersand is his time in IR146. He was a lieutenant, so he might have had an established post, right? But his name wasn´t shown in the regimental history of IR146.
    19. I agree too! I know him personally. He´s a very nice guy. 100% correct und he does a very good job!
    20. Hi Chris! You said,on of your favourites is the 155th IR. Do you have personal informations about that unit? I ask because my grand-uncle served there as a Lt.d.Res. He was named in the regimental history for serving in 1916. But then he left the regiment, but where? I have an info, that he used to be in IR146, but the regimental history doesn´ t know his name... Neither the Reserve, nor the Ersatz units... His name is Hugo Harhaus. Thanks a lot in advance
    21. You have to fill in the name or the number, and when it arrives, it´ll show you the price
    22. Hello Mervyn! Of course, here´s the link of the National Archive: http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/records/medal-index-cards-ww1.htm
