    1. Thanks to motorhead & ekhunter for helping me to I.D. this one
    2. This cross has two different style/shape crowns, I haven't seen this before and I don't think it's the norm, at least not on any of my others.
    3. Thanks Greg, I'm also not 100% but It's nice to have a second opinion. Have you seen this variation with two different crowns before?
    4. It is a difficult area to identify and quite a challenge. Kaiserbunker is a good site but I understand that their list is quite erroneous from what I've been told? I thought that with all the items that we have here on GMIC that we might be able to improve on what is already out there. I've seen medal bars with jeweler names and a few issue packets with the same. It can only help the hobby if we all post what we have that is marked by a jeweler for cross reference. Until a group of us decide to go to Berlin personally for a beer drinking, I mean investigation at the Bundesarchiv that is Chris
    5. I guess no one knows about this one. Where are all the Imperial guys, this space used to be hoppin???
    6. Hi George That would be too easy my friend, no I'm afraid this is one of the countless, nameless breed, but I see some comparisons to the 30's Deumer. Also, it has two different crown types.
    7. Hi gents I've been trying to I.D the maker of this 20's, 30's era cross, seems to be a mix. 3 or 4 part construction, magnetic core. Chris
    8. I agree Greg, Unless it was a purely decorative, one off private custom purchase. Although I wouldn't mind having one.
    9. Hi Gents I have a question about maker marks and there relation to jewelers. Were all the jewelers that have their names on cases, medal bars and other related items also the manufacturers of the Iron Cross or merely retailers? If the answer is yes and they were the makers, we collectors should be able to gather a database of names on the forum and try to solve the mystery behind the marks. I know a lot of you have EK2 medal bars with jeweler names on the reverse and likewise named cases. Do you think we can post all the different names on a thread for reference?
    10. Gentlemen, I am pleased to announce that my hunt is over and I've finally found the type I need. Thanks all for your help. Regards, Chris
    11. No not at all, sometimes they are maker stamped on the ring and sometimes not. It doesn't reflect on the cross but most collectors like to acquire maker marked versions, as a result, marked examples are higher priced. The reason I asked if it was magnetic was because where the paint is missing looks very clean and shiny like a material other than Iron. Iron is the given norm for the cores but a variety of materials were used in construction.
    12. Hi Oleg Are there any maker marks on the ring? Is the core magnetic on this cross. Best, Chris
    13. A beauty for sure and that is the model I seek. I have the perfect place for it :D
    14. Hi Maja Looks like the correct 9 but the wrong crown Thank you for your help. Regards, Chris
    15. That is some fine micro surgery happening on that there cross, great pick up for this alone. I love the variations of repaired hardware from tin opener pins to a beauty like this one.
    16. Micha this is an easy task for a man who can locate a Silber marked EK2
    17. Hi gents I'm looking for an EK2 mm KAG in nice to great condition, to match the EK1 in the photo. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks all, Chris
    18. Nice pickup and VERY elusive, Lucky man. It might be the scan but the area around the crown on the obverse seems to be hollowed out a little ?
